Well, I'm amazed!

 

I looked in yesterday from the Unity site (member since 2006) for the first time in ages, and made a note to read this thread thru today from the beginning.

 

I am AMAZED that Ben was telling us news about this release as long ago as October 24th. Which I fully believe BTW.

 

There has been no end of angst in Unity about it in this time (as David well knows) - EIGHT successive threads (200 posts each) on the subject, now on the 9th, during which people have got very distressed and even quarrelsome about it all. Basically I wish I'd heard the news sooner!

 

Ben should be congratulated on bringing the most concrete news about the release hitherto, which I have no reason to doubt.

 

I deplore the private message to Ben from Florae Arcanum, (whom I do not recognise from Unity BTW), which if he/she is from Unity, shows Unity in a poor light.

 

Speaking purely for myself, a very big THANK YOU to Ben and David for the news. You have at least ONE appreciative Enya fan here! Well done, guys!

I really, really appreciate your post. Thank you very much.

 

One thing I should add is that the person I spoke to at Warner asked me to follow up our phone conversation with an email. She asked me to put in writing my thoughts and concerns. I did this last night. I have no idea if I will get a response, but if I do, and if there is any further news to report, then I will of course post it on here.

Precisely. That person should mind their own beeswax. :wacko: I enjoy Unity and find it a useful and fun place, and their rude pm reflects badly on Unity. Why on earth do they think that sending an offensive pm would accomplish anything? :huh:

 

That person talks about "stalking" the progress of the album... it sounds to me like they're the ones who are actually stalking, they're stalking Ben! :rofl:

I hope there'll be one next year, and I think it's quite possible there will be one unless of course they didn't really get going with it. We should know SOMETHING within the next month though I hope.

So basically, he said, "I know you are, but what am I?" The fact that he used my age against me is rather troubling...I shudder to think at the kind of biased role model he is for his students. Let me address the criticism against me.

 

Will that PM accomplish anything? Not as far as Enya goes. That was not my intention. My intention was to call Ben for the full-of-it troublemaker that he is. He has posted on other forums bashing Enya over and over.

 

And should Ben be congratulated for bringing the most concrete news? Let me tell you the most concrete news we have. Enya said herself that there would be a Christmas album. Is that still valid? We don't know. But Ben is essentially saying, "Well, I made a few phone calls, and the people at Warner were PERFECTLY fine with volunteering confidential (because even whether there will be an album or not is still confidential, as it has not been released to the public) to a total stranger!" If you call "He said, she said" news, then yeah, this is news. I call it gossip. Perhaps I'd go so far as to call it a lie.

 

One of my best friends has always spoken her mind when given the chance, and, yeah, it gets her into trouble. I admire her for doing it anyway. Thus, I'm doing it anyway.

 

I stand by my sentiments that Ben is lying 100% until I see the phone records or get an email from Warner themselves. His speculation shall not be fact in my book. It's nothing personal against Ben, just something personal against people who say thing that are unverifiable and claim them as absolute truth.

 

Again, I'm kind of appalled that Ben doesn't know the meaning of PRIVATE message. What did posting my PM in a thread that has nothing to do with it accomplish?

I'd hardly say the "drama" here was started by Ben. You did, after all, sign up to send him that PM. :wacko: And I don't see why you refuse to believe it, part of posting on a forum is about believing what people say because they generally have the same interests as you, so are unlikely to lie about this sort of thing. You just have to learn to trust people on forums. :mellow: And if Ben wants to criticise Enya, then why shouldn't he? It is a discussion board after all, and all points of view on people should be accepted, provided they are backed up, which I'd imagine Ben's were.

I have no axe to grind against Ben.

 

He has no history with me.

 

As regards personal nastiness to other members, IMHO it is not justifiable either in public posting or private messaging. But if you do use it, you shouldn't be surprised if you get some back.

 

I appreciate the news about the release that I have heard here, and I know where I shall come next time I need bona fide (in my view) information about Enya from Warner.

In this thread, Ben claims that he has a "friend" at WarnerUK. Very nice. An inside source. He says this many times, and he insists that s/he will give him reliable information.

 

Here, he sounds like he spoke with a complete stranger there. What happened to your little "friend," Ben? Did s/he get fired for leaking info? Or was s/he a figment of your imagination? Perhaps it's senility. Regardless, how do you explain the fact that your source changes depending on your location?

Right, this is the last time I'm going to respond to the idiotic and juvenile posts that Brina/Brian is leaving because I'm just fuelling his/her little game.

 

An old school friend of mine Clare works at Warner. She does not work in the same department, or indeed building, as the department that deal with Enya. In fact, I think she told me that she works in the other side of London! However, she does get information from time to time. I asked her in September what the Enya Christmas album was going to be called and she said she hadn't heard. When I asked her again in October she checked and said there was no record of any Enya release on the schedule. She asked around on my behalf and no one seemed to know about an Enya album this year.

 

When she couldn't give me any further information I decided to ring up Warner myself. This is something I have done on a few occasions over the years and I'm always surprised more people don't do it. I did it in 1989 to ask for a massive Watermark poster (you weren't even born then). I did it in 1991 and got sent a whole load of Shepherd Moons stuff which we hung up in our student house at Manchester University. In 1995, before I was on the internet, one day in Autumn I phoned Warner just to see if Enya had at last completed a new album. I was told by someone on the end of the phone that yes, she had, and it was shortly going to be released entitled 'The Memory Trees'!! I actually prefer that title.

 

On Monday 19th November I phoned Warner and was told that I needed to speak to Enya's product manager, a woman called Nadine Parker. Unfortunately, she was away for the whole week. I promised this forum that I would phone back the following week. I forgot to ring on Monday 26th but on Tuesday 27th I remembered. It took a few tries (I kept getting voice mail) but eventually I did speak to someone who works closely with Enya, though she was not Nadine Parker.

 

The person I spoke to confirmed the album was not coming out this year but would not give the reasons why. I then posted this information on three forums that I am a member of: this one, Moya's and enyafans.org. David posted the information on Unity and there seems to have been uproar. I understand that Frogprince was extremely insulting but Kerry thankfully reminded people that it is unfair to attack me since I am not able to respond.

 

I have no idea why this is so hard for Brina/Brian to accept. I have no idea why this member has felt it necessary to send abusive private messages. I deal with students like this in my professional life so my suspicion is that he/she has some issues which need to be worked through. All I would say to him/her is to phone Warner and see if you get the same response I did. It really isn't difficult and I don't see why people seem hesitant/reluctant/nervous to speak to record label staff. I have always found them to be perfectly obliging and friendly, and ready to help if they can.

 

Right, Brian/Brina toddle off and finish your homework. I've no more intention of addressing you as I've wasted far too long on this nonsense.
