This week sees Timbaland take out pole position with Apologize, pushing Kylie’s 2 Hearts to No.8. Meanwhile Timbaland’s The Way I Are remains relaxed at No.2 for another week. Hot on the pursuit is Fergie. who races up the chart to enter the Top 10 at No.3 with Clumsy. Also setting the pace is Santana’s Into The Night – up two spots to No.6, whilst another prime mover is Alicia Keys with No One, which soars up thirteen places to land in at No.5 this week. Hey There Delilah turns it up a notch, setting Plain White T’s at No.6 and finally last week’s special shout out to The Potbelleez can go out to them again – they move up four more places to sit nicely in the Top 10 at No.10 with Don’t Hold Back. TURN ME LOOSE - Young Divas No.21 These four pretty ladies certainly know how to belt out a tune, with already three Top 40 hits up their sleeve – Searchin’ (No.40 Mar. ’07), Happenin’ All Over Again (No.9 Nov. ’06) and This Time I Know It’s For Real (No.2 May ’06). The Young Divas are all previous contestants on Australia Idol including title winner Kate DeAurago and runner-up, Emily Williams. Joining them is Paulini Curuenavuli and their newest member – Jessica Mauboy, who replaces Ricki-Lee Coulter, who left the group this year to focus on her solo career. Turn Me Loose was originally a No.3 hit for Loverboy in 1981. HOT STUFF (LET'S DANCE) - Craig David No.39 Making his ARIA Chart debut back in 2000, Craig David has been rolling out the hits since. Fill Me In was David’s first single and Top 10 hit, peaking at No.6 in October 2000. This was followed up by two more Top 10 tracks – 7 Days (No.4 Jan. ’01) and Walking Away (No.5 April ’01). Hot Stuff (Let’s Dance) samples David Bowie’s Let’s Dance, which peaked at No.2 in 1983. Did you know the film clip for What’s Your Flava? (No.10 Dec. ’03) is a parody of David’s favourite movie as a child, Charlie And The Chocolate Factory? MISERY - Good Charlotte No.42 Punk-pop band Good Charlotte, have been rocking it out since 2001. Good Charlotte consists of twin brothers, Benji and Joel Madden, Dean Butterworth, Billy Martin and Paul Thomas. The band’s debut single was Little Things, it peaked at No.61 in March 2001. Good Charlotte has since had a string of hits including, Dance Floor Anthem (No.2 July ’07), Keep Your Hands Off My Girl (No.5 Mar. ’07) and The Anthem (No.14 Mar. ’03). Misery is the third single lifted from the band’s latest platinum selling album – Good Morning Revival (No.5 Mar. ’07). RUN THE RED LIGHT - British India No.50 This four piece rock outfit from Melbourne comprises of high school friends - Declan Melia (vocals), Nic Wilson (guitar), Will Drummond (bass) and Matt O'Gorman (drums). This is Bristish India’s debut to the ARIA Singles Chart, although they made their debut earlier this year on the ARIA Albums Chart with Guillotine (No.55 July ’07), which features Run The Red Light. British India cites Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth and Wilco as influences. The band will be part of the 2008 line up for Big Day Out. HEADLINES (FRIENDSHIP NEVER ENDS) - Spice Girls No.74 They’re back! Posh Spice (Victoria Beckham), Sporty Spice (Melanie C.), Scary Spice (Melanie B.), Baby Spice (Emma Bunton) and Ginger Spice (Geri Halliwell) have reunited for the first time in seven years. The Girls have embarked on a world tour and have released a Greatest Hits album which debuted at No.1 last week and is currently sitting at No.3. Since their inception in the early 90’s, Spice Girls have gone on to be icons all across the globe. Most notable tracks of the girls are Wannabe (No.1 Oct. ’96), 2 Become 1 (No.2 Apr. ’97) and Viva Forever (No.2 Sep. ’98). LONG ROAD TO RUIN - Foo Fighters No.91 Foo who? Foo Fighters - American rock band founded by ex-Nirvana drummer, Dave Grohl. The band’s new single, Long Road To Ruin is the second track lifted from their latest album Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace. The album debuted at No.1 earlier this year and has so far been accredited platinum. The first single taken was The Pretender, which peaked at No.10 in September this year. The Foo Fighters are set to touch down on our shores next yet for a tour, so watch out for some total rockness near you. ROMEO & JULIET (LIVE FROM ABBEY ROAD) - The Killers No.98 This track is taken from The Killers’ current album Sawdust, which debuted last week at No.6 on the ARIA Albums Chart. Romeo & Juliet is The Killers’ take on the Dire Straits classic and follows Tranquilize (No.84 Nov. ’07) as both are digital only products. The Killers have been up for a numerous amount of awards since they started out in 2002 and were lucky enough to take out two Brit Awards, an MTV Europe Music Award and an MTV Video Music Award amongst others. Albums Bouncing back to No.1 is The Eagles with Long Road Out Of Eden, which has bumped Spice Girls Greatest Hits from No.1 to No.3. New at No.2 is the Motown album, Get Ready by Human Nature. Up to No.4 is Timbaland Presents: Shock Value and on No.5 is Delta Goodrem with Delta. Moving down from No.3 to No.6 is another Motown album – The Memphis Album by Guy Sebastian. No.7 is another debut, Keith Urban’s Greatest Hits: 18 Kids. Down a spot to No.8 is The Veronicas with Hook Me Up, while No.9 for another week is Future Sex/Love Sounds by Justin Timberlake. Bringing up No.10 is Led Zeppelin’s Mothership. GET READY - Human Nature No.2 This is the third album in Human Nature’s recent adventures into the Motown and soul music world. Their first being Reach Out: The Motown Record (No.1 Dec. ’05) which was accredited with 5x platinum sales and the next was Dancing In The Streets (No.1 Oct. ’06) accredited with triple platinum sales. This album includes the considerable talents of Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, Mary Wilson of The Supremes and Martha Reeves of Martha And The Vandellas. The boys have a great album chart history starting with Telling Everybody (No.7 Jan. ’97), Counting Down (No.1 May ’99), Human Nature (No.7 Dec. ’00) Here And Now – The Best Of Human Nature (No.11 Dec. ’01) and Walk The Tightrope (No.12 May ’04). GREATEST HITS: 18 KIDS - Keith Urban No.7 Urban’s Greatest Hits album is also No.2 on the ARIA Country Chart this week. The album contains 16 favourites and 2 new songs, and has already been accredited with gold sales. Urban’s previous albums have done very well, both on the albums chart and the country chart, Golden Road (No.29 Nov. ’02) was No.2 in the ARIA Country Chart in October 2002. Be Here (No.11 Sep. ’04) is accredited with double platinum sales and hit No.1 in the ARIA Country Chart in September 2004. His most recent release, Love Pain and The Whole Crazy Thing (No.5 Nov. ’06) hit No.1 on the ARIA Country Chart in November 2006 and is accredited with platinum sales. The album also won the ARIA Country Album of the year award in 2007. THE PROMISE - David Hobson No.14 For this album, Hobson has recorded a variety of music that he has arranged, from pop songs to musicals and two of his own compositions. His previous albums include Something For Everybody (No.14 Nov. ’97) accredited platinum, Handel: Arias (No.28 May ’02) and Presenting David Hobson (No.30 Aug. ’06). Recently Hobson finished third on television program, Dancing With The Stars as a contestant with his mentor Karina Schembri. LIFE - Marcia Hines No.21 The Australian Idol judge is about to embark on a tour with Lionel Richie (his first tour in Australia in 20 years). This is her twelfth album and includes her interpretation of classics songs such as R.E.M’s Everybody Hurts and John Lennon’s Imagine as well as a self-written tracks. Hines previous album releases include Right Here and Now (No.21 Oct. ’94), Time Of Our Lives (No.17 Jul. ‘99), Hinesight (No.12 Jul. ’04) and Discotheque (No.6 Oct. ’06). BE THE TWILIGHT - Faker No.37 Faker is - Nathan Hudson (vocals), Nic Munnings (bass), Stefan Gregory (guitar) and Paul Berryman (drums) all from Sydney. This is their second album and was recorded in LA. Their previous album, Addicted Romantic, peaked at No.44 in June, 2005. Their earlier singles include The Familiar / Enough (No.62 May ’05), Hurricane (No.65 Oct. ’05) and This Heart Attack (No.64 Nov. ’07). ALIVE 2007 - Daft Punk No.51 This is the second live album from Daft Punk, the first was Alive 1997 which failed to make an impact on the ARIA Albums Chart. This album was recorded during a live performance in Paris in July, 2007. This album includes the tracks, Da Funk (No.31 May ’97), Around The World (No.11 Aug. ’97) and One More Time (No.10 May ’01). Daft Punk’s previous albums are; Homework (No.37 Jul. ’97), Discovery (No.7 Mar. ’01) and Human After All (No.36 Mar. ’05). RED CARPET MASSACRE - Duran Duran No.69 The thirteenth studio album from the band has had a bumpy road to completion. Mid-way through production, Andy Taylor, the former guitarist left the group, which led to the rest of the band deciding that they needed to record more material to make an album that they all liked and would be proud of. For this album they have enlisted the talents of Timbaland and Justin Timberlake who feature on some tracks. Duran Duran’s previous albums include Big Thing (No.46 Nov. ’88), Duran Duran (The Wedding Album) (No.20 May ’93), Thankyou (No.63 May ’95) and Astronaut (No.22 Oct. ’04). RAISING SAND - Robert Plant & Alison Krauss No.74 These two diverse artists first met at a tribute concert to Leadbelly, where they performed a few songs together and liked it so much they decided to do it again! Alison Krauss is a well-known bluegrass musician and has released the albums Forget About It (ARIA Country Charts No.11 Oct. ’99) and New Favorite (ARIA Country Charts No.8 Sep. ’01). Robert Plant is from Led Zeppelin and has also released solo albums –Now And Zen (No.27 Jun. ’88) and Manic Nirvana (No.26 Apr. ’90). For this album they enlisted the help of producer T-Bone Burnett, who among many things was the producer of soundtracks O Brother Where Art Thou? (No.15 Mar. ’02) and Walk The Line (No.2 Mar. ’06). This album is No.7 on the ARIA Country Chart this week. THE ULTIMATE COLLECTION - Whitney Houston No.85 This artist certainly needs no introduction! She is listed in The Guinness Book Of World Records as the Most Awarded Female Artist of All Time (over 411 awards as of 2006) and her chart history can certainly attest to why that is! I’m Your Baby Tonight (No.10 Dec. ’90) and My Love Is Your Love (No.42 Nov. ’98) are just two of her albums, and her work in movies includes The Bodyguard (No.1 Jan. ’93), Waiting To Exhale (No.9 Feb. ’96) and The Preachers Wife (No.34 Jan. ’97). This album includes the hits I’m Your Baby Tonight (No.7 Nov. ’90), I Will Always Love You (No.1 Dec. ’92) and I’m Every Woman (No.11 Mar. ’93).
