Panasonic Christmas Show

Hi Everyone,

Some news, Enya is to appear in the Panasonic Christmas Show which will be broadcast in Japan on the 23rd of December. She will be filming with the excellent Japanese crew she worked with on her last visit to Kyoto. This time they have come to film her in Ireland.

On Monday 3rd of December they will be recording her performance for the show at Christchurch Cathedral here in Dublin. Enya will perform two numbers and will be interviewed by Ms. Norika.

As I have said the scheduled date for broadcast is at present the 23rd of December, any change and I will let you know.

Regards,

-Roma

Posted by Roma on enya.com at 3.59pm today. I'm completely flummoxed by it. Have they quite simply forgotten that we were supposed to be getting a Christmas CD this year? :mellow: It'll be interesting to see what she performs/has performed but I'm guessing it'll be something new... That's all very well, but we seem to be getting this new album a few tracks at a time which brings less and less excitement to the actual release for us. :( It'll be nice to see what they come up with though. ^_^ If it gets YouTube'd at all that is...

Actually, Roma sounds a bit pissed off in the letter, regarding the "as I've said" sentence. :lol: I bet they've been reading Unity!

That message for me is a bit disrespectful to the fans.

It doesn't mean so much for me,because:

1- I was in Dublin,not now;

2- Will be broadcast in Japan;

3- Not mention any new sutff;

4- Still lack information about whats going on;

I agree David. I think the message is curt and abrupt and the news is given grudgingly. Notice how it was given in the afternoon of the day that Enya was recording. Perish the thought that any Dublin fans might be allowed to pop along.

No mention of the Christmas album. No apologies for the long silence, no thanks for your patience.

Bloody rude.

It's going to be broadcast in Japan..always Japan. :( How are we going to see it if it's not youtubed? I feel disappointed that there was no news about the Christmas album..I wish there was some clarity.

I'm not even excited about this. :cry: I have to be honest.

Enya to star in Japanese Christmas TV special

03 Dec 2007

Enya filmed an Irish-themed Christmas special for Japanese television network NTV in Dublin's Christchurch Cathedral today.

NTV's Happy Christmas Show is one of the biggest festive-season specials in Japan and an extensive crew from the network travelled to Dublin to film the singer's appearance.

Enya performed the seasonal favourite 'Adeste Fideles' as well as one of her most popular songs, 'Only Time'. She then gave a rare interview to noted Japanese actress and journalist Norika Fujiwara and presented her with a symbolic Irish gift of Waterford Crystal.

This is not the first time Enya has appeared on the Happy Christmas Show - in 2005, she sang at Kyoto's Shimogamo Jinja shrine. This year, NTV have based the entire programme around an 'Irish Christmas' theme, to show the traditions of Christmas celebration here to a Japanese audience.

The show will be broadcast in Japan on December 23.

Yes it's nice to hear some new info concerning Enya, :yahoo: but it's still puzzling that Roma made no mention of all the fuss surrounding the "Christmas" album. A simple yes or no would have done. :huh:

It was posted on Digital Spy too, which is quite a big site. :o

Enya records Xmas TV special for Japan

Monday, December 3 2007, 17:00 GMT

Enya recorded a Christmas TV special for Japanese television network NTV today.

Crews from Japan flew to Dublin to film the singer's performance at Christchurch Cathedral for the Irish-themed Happy Christmas Show.

Enya sang her hit song 'Only Time' and festive track 'Adeste Fideles' and gave a rare interview that will be screened on the show on December 23.

The star last appeared on the programme two years ago when she sang at Kyoto's Shimogamo Jinja shrine. This year's special is based entirely on an 'Irish Christmas' to show the Japanese the nation's seasonal traditions.

Like Ben said, it should've been announced earlier, so people could go along and see if they lived nearby. -_- Shame there's no new songs too.

I also think a simple yes or no in the form of a polite sentence would have been sufficient..I don't understand. :huh:

I don't have much hope of seeing the program unless it's youtubed or archived somewhere. :(

Enya returns for festive show

Tuesday December 04 2007

Reclusive singer Enya made a rare public appearance as she posed for the cameras outside Dublin's Christ Church Cathedral yesterday.

The historic Church of Ireland landmark was the perfect backdrop for her ethereal voice as part of a recording session yesterday.

She was singing festive songs for an upcoming Christmas special due to air on Japanese television later this month.

NTV's 'Happy Christmas Show' is one of the biggest festive-season specials in Japan and an extensive crew from the network travelled to Dublin to film the singer's appearance.

Enya performed the seasonal favourite 'Adeste Fideles' as well as one of her most popular songs, 'Only Time'.

This is not the first time Enya has appeared on the 'Happy Christmas Show' -- in 2005, she sang at Kyoto's Shimogamo Jinja shrine.

The Donegal singer does not often appear at public engagements but she has performed in the cathedral before. She recorded the carol 'Silent Night' in Irish for a BBC Christmas special.

wow <_<

I dont know why the excitement if many of us will not have access to that -_-

I'm not too keen on the haircut in that picture tbh, probably looks better in real life though. :magic:

Most likely because it's some type of news. :lol:

I still can't really see her haircut that well in those pictures..they are nice, though..but I think she looks scared in one of them (second one, bottom row)

Edit: I didn't realize that I could blow the pictures up even bigger. :P I know what you mean, David..her haircut probably does look better in real life, pictures almost never do a person justice.
