Posted December 3, 200717 yr Well I don't care what people say about Nigel Martin Smith. If it weren't for him there'd be no Take That or Rob Williams. And if this guy wrote a book about Take That and Beyond - I'd certainly be interested to read his side of things. http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/new...ops_bitter_rift Norma
December 4, 200717 yr Author I still don't know why everyone hates the guy - he put a lot of his effort and even more of his own money into financing their earlier stuff - and if he hadn't have done what he did - there'd be no TT or RW (no matter how much the latter believes he would have been a superstar anyway). All five of them owe him a huge debt of gratitude. Norma
December 4, 200717 yr Nigel Martin Smith is an obnoxious little **** but as Norma says, without him there wouldn't be a Take That, and arguably there wouldn't be a Robbie Williams... no definitely there wouldn't be a Robbie Williams, as it was Nigel who called him Robbie in the first place - He would never have called himself Robbie. Who knows whether Robert would have made it without Take That or Nigel - my guess is he wouldn't. I'm no fan of NMS, but a lot of fans of both Take That and Robbie really need to let go of their irrational hatred of him, and I actually think he was right to sue Robbie on this occasion - he was the one that wrote the song, and he shouldn't have accused anyone of fraud without some concrete evidence to back it up.
December 4, 200717 yr how do the members of take that get on with nigel i know robbie and nigel dont get on
December 4, 200717 yr Author how do the members of take that get on with nigel i know robbie and nigel dont get on In his book Gary seems to have mixed feelings. He did see how Nigel seemed to treat Howard and himself differently. NMS seems to just not 'regarded' Mark at all - he felt he was a vital element for his 'cuteness', Jason and Rob he sort of treated with disdain - but from what Gary wrote ... Jason got it much worse than Robbie ever did. Nigel even threw him out of the car and left him stranded once for disagreeing with him on something (forgotten now ... will have to read the book again). Gary does say that they were all a bit frightened of him. The stories he tells about NMS are both funny and touching but he doesn't slag him off because, as he says, in many ways ... he went a lot further for Take That than any other manager would have done. Note - look at the manager of East 17 - total tw*t! I actually felt sorry for those boys because their manager really did not look after them at all. Final word from Gary on NMS - his mother (Gary's) will not let Gary say a bad word about him. I think he is a complex character and if he wrote a book about Take That - it would undoubtedly sell a hell of a lot - probably more than Gary's and Rob's books put together. Thats just my opinion ... I know I'd love to read what he has to say. Norma
