Lily Allen

Lily Allen (born May 2, 1985) is a pop artist from the United Kingdom signed to Regal/Parlophone (EMI). She is the daughter of actor/comedian Keith Allen and film producer Allison Owen.

She was signed by Regal Records/Parlophone in October 2005. She set up a MySpace profile in November 2005, and through it she was thrust into popularity and her upcoming releases surrounded with much hype. Her debut album is yet to be released, but her first single, 'LDN', came out in May 2006.

Here is her debut video for her limited April 2006 (EMI - did the same trick with Corinne Bailey Rae - with the Like A Star single) release 'LDN'.

Here is Lily Allen's video to her new single "Smile" out July 3rd

Her album "Alright Still"

Release date: 17-7-2006

HMV review:

Lily Allen (daughter of cult comedian Keith) is a 21yr old singer/songwriter who is about to soundtrack this summer, fusing pop, hip-hop and dancehall into an uplifting, breezy and eclectic concoction that never ceases to amuse and endear the listener. Having worked with renowned producer Mark Ronson amongst others, Lily looks set to be the next breakthrough UK female artist.

With her debut album 'Alright, Still', Lily is at times blissfully carefree and celebratory ('LDN', 'Alfie') and at times ferociously playful and lyrically petulant ('Not Big', 'Knock Em Out'). Album highlights include the "don't mess with me" anthem 'Smile', the infectious ska-funk of 'Friday Night' and the dance floor grooves of 'Everything's Just Wonderful'.

With many of her popular MySpace demos making the final cut, this album is already an instant fan favourite, whilst adding many new songs to the fray puts straight anyone in doubt that Lily is an up-and-coming talent to be reckoned with. 'Alright, Still' is a mighty challenge to Nelly Furtado for the title of 'Best Pop Album of 2006'.

I heard this a couple of days ago, it has really grown on me quite a lot

Shame she is the daughter of Keith Allen though

I've heard this quite a bit and its ok. She's 21 but when she's singing she sounds around 14 to me, but nether the less its a quite catchy song and another one to add to the list of rising brithish singer / songwriters.
Love that song  really different but amazing :D

Indie singers put in their place

Up-and-coming singer Lily Allen has launched a scathing attack on indie favourites The Kooks and Dirty Pretty Things.

In a blog on her Myspace page, Keith Allen's daughter had a pop at The Kooks singer Luke Pritchard and dished out some unkind words for Dirty Pretty Things frontman Carl Barat after filming a TV show with them last week.

She said: "I went to school with Luke from The Kooks. I thought he was quite cool then.

"I was quite annoyed at how much of a bad man he thinks he is, there is no excuse for wearing broken straw hats and dark sunglasses (two storeys underground of Alexandra Palace) while strumming your guitar like you're treating everyone to an exclusive showcase for your next album."

She added: "Carl Barat is obviously convinced he is God or something, though the other two guys (who weren't in the Libertines) seemed alright.

"Carl didn't make eye contact with anyone, not that I could see anyway (and they have ORGANIC sliced bread on the rider)."

The catty singer concluded: "Boys your regurgitated indie rock days are numbered so get over yourselves."

Any comments?

I know loads of people who hate the Kooks frontman. I'm not too familiar with them so I'm not sure what he's like tbh.

From what i've seen of him on interviews he seems ok. He's kinda like a steroeype indie IMO though as he smokes and drinks etc, although the outburst from Jonny Borell (Razorlight Lead Singer)on him was a bit out of the blue.

He sounds to me like a complete attention seeker tbh -_-

This is ****ing brilliant!

#1 written all over it wouldnt surprise me if it does a Gnarls Barkley on us.

The whole message in the song I think is one many people can relate too and yeh her voice is a bit weak and childish overall but still a surefire hit
