Thanks, both of you! ^_^

Let's have a bit of colour!

How am I supposed to know if you're high if you won't even dance?

The first single from possibly my band of the year. Never heard of them until about April/May time and they grabbed me instantly. A brilliant rock band. This was the second single they had after I discovered them (I don't know if they released anything before 'Stuck Between Stations'). I did really like it but it was completely overshadowed by their former release...

I Left my job, my boss, my car and my home...

One of my favourite dance singles of the year. I adore the brass section of it and think the vocal is fantastic do. I've generally found dance music a bit disappointing this year but this certainly wasn't. Decent video, too. Not usually a fan of this kind of video but I certainly approve. :)

Ooooh some really great songs there :o

I'm surprised at you charting Me + My Imagination :o. That really is a fantastic song :( Deserved so much more.

I love "Off The Hook" and "Grip Like A Vice"

'Destination Calabria' was good but i went off it very quickly!

Excellent so far :D

Great to see Sophie in there :o

If you want to whip me into shape, I need a plan or a mission...

I think that this has been released before this year. But I never knew it up until recently. I'd heard a couple of their other songs but never been too bothered but I love this, the way it builds and builds and goes on for quite a while but still isn't long enough! I think this is possibly the only song in my top 50 that never made my top 10. However, I'm not totally sure and don't know what the rest of my top 50 is like. I did look when it was first compiled but I've tried to make it a suspense for myself as well. I can't see any others still to come...

047 Kelis ft Cee-Lo 'Lil Star' (37-26-12-07-02-03-16-34)

I forget about myself sometimes when there's so many of us around...

Kelis isn't someone I've generally liked much so this song took me by surprise. It's really nice and I think Cee-Lo adds to it brilliantly. As you can probably tell from the chart run, I got bored of it fairly quickly. But I really love it again now...

046 Beyoncé Beyoncé & Shakira Shakira 'Beautiful Liar (Freemasons Mix)' (30-22-15-11-03-05-09-11-12-19-24-34-40)

Let's not kill the karma, let's not start a fight...

Beyoncé Beyoncé and Shakira Shakira aren't artists who I'm usually fond of, somewhat unsurprisingly. And the original version of this song was OK, but wasn't going to do much to change that opinion. But when I first heard the remix I loved it instantly and whilst their remixes of Beyoncé are quite similar I think this is easily their best. The third of four UK number ones to chart, I'm sure it's not hard to guess the fourth.

If you're worried about the weather, then you've picked the wrong place to stay...

A HUGE underperformance here. I adore this song now, and really liked it when it was out. But I downloaded the album and felt it was a real disappointment so it dropped down my chart quickly. But recently, especially since 'Someone Great' was released, I really started to like the album and I really appreciate how good this song is now. 7 and a half minutes may seem a long time but I could listen to a hell of a lot more of it. When compiling my favourites list I kept moving it up and up, far more than any other song. First from a 4* rating to a 5*. Then into my top 30, and it ended up at 16. The more I listen to it, the more I think it was about 15 places too low. Genius.

I was suprised Beautiful Liar did well overall tbh even though I do like it, it wouldn't have done as well if it wasn't for Freemasons anyway

When it raises its head and it threatens to stay, don't give the game away...

Former Delgados lead singer goes solo. And what a wonderful piece of music this was. A wonderful piano led ballad that anyone would be envious of. A shame it gave her no success and also a shame her album wasn't much cop apart from the three singles. I urge anyone who likes the female voice more than the male one to check this out.

They say 'you're not normal, why don't you sing RnB?'...

Oooh, another female. A fabulous recent pop song that should've been a massive hit but for some reason was criminally ignored and charted at something like 124. Wasn't fussed with the first song but I really do like this, though I did overplay it when I bought it so not as much as I did.

Some skinny b**ch walks by in some hot pants and he's running out the door...

This seems so old! But then, it is. The album was released in 2006 and this was the first 2007 song to hit the top spot of my chart. As with a couple of earlier songs, this would probably have done much better had I compiled my chart how I do now, at the beginning of the year. A climb to the top and it's likely it would've been top 30! Oh and, fantastic video. One of the years best.

It was acceptable in the 80s, it was acceptable at the time...

I really loved this and got really excited about him and his album but after seeing and hearing everyone else say it wasn't that good I decided to give it a miss and judging by the recent singles it was definitely the correct decision. This is still great though, and I reckon it'd make a good instrumental, not that I don't love the vocal.

I like not looking at my End of Year chart myself, it brings pleasant surprises! Like this being top 40. Really underated song and band who I hope will do something more next year. Only just started to like 'Balloons', should've made my chart really! :(

3 top 5 singles this year but they were unable to add another number one to the two they had from the 'Funeral' era.. I did really like this at its time of release but I'm not quite as fond of it now. It's still great, but I prefer the original version on the 'Arcade Fire EP'.

I didn't become aware of this song until about 5 weeks after its release but I loved it so much I had to chart it. It's so brilliant, just so different from anything else out there. Really weird yet really good at the same time. It's definitely not for everyone, though...

Recent fourth single from The Shins showing that they can do slow and mellow just as well as they can do uptempo pop. Another fantastic single from an equally fantastic album.

I did like 'Overpowered' but didn't think it was that great. This is different though, a pop masterpiece with a wonderful vocal and a brilliant catchy hook. Getting the album for Christmas, if it's anything like as good it'll be a belter!

Have you noticed I've never been impressed by your friends from New York and London...

When I first heard this I absolutely adored it and thought it'd be a contender for my single of the year but after a while and a lot of listening Ryan's voice throughout the verses do get slightly irritating. That, coupled with the fact that the album is rubbish sees them miss out on a top 30 place.

034 Arcade Fire 'Keep The Car Running' (30-27-24-25-17-06-05-05-13-28)

There's a weight that's pressing down, late at night you can hear that sound...

After a while I got really bored with this which is a great shame because I love it again now and it's about my favourite track on the album. It was always going to be tough to follow up the excellent 'Funeral' and match the top 3 position of 'Rebellion (Lies)' two years ago but an album in my top 10 of the year and three singles in my top 40 should be regarded as a great success.

033 Gwen Stefani 'The Sweet Escape' (40-05-03-01-01-02-08-09-08-08-16-19-24-33)

You held me down, I'm at my lowest boiling point...

Not someone I always like too much but she is capable of some brilliant pop. This was probably the first song of the year I really loved spending two weeks at the top of my chart in February but I really don't like it anywhere near as much now. It's still good, but I'm glad my end of year isn't entirely based on my chart. 11th best song of the year? No chance! It's again a great shame that what is by FAR the best track on her album has been robbed of a single release. Twice she could've had top 10s but had to settle for top 40s!

Used to be satisfied but now you feel like Mick Jagger...

The best one hit wonder of the year. I really liked this and it showed so much promise for an album. A wonderfully catchy pop song much better than what it was held off the top by. But the album is abysmal, apart from last years first single 'Writer's Block' and this it's awful, easily the worst album I've heard all year.

031 Malcolm Middleton 'Fight Like The Night' (02-02-02-04-09-15-21-24-26-36)

This town is a great place, I love you at night...

Not everyone has only heard of him because of Colin Murray's campaign. His Christmas number one 'contender' is the fourth single off his 'A Brighter Beat' album. This superb piece of music was the third towards the end of the summer. Fellow Scot Jenny Reeve guest on vocals and it really makes the song work, their voices complement each other so much. I also love how he's almost speaking in the verses, in a wonderful Scottish accent. Almost has two songs in the top 30 but not quite. Even if this was one place higher, he still wouldn't have. I wonder what could be next? ;)

Some fantastic songs! ^_^

Especially Keep The Car Running, Mens Needs and Sweet Escape

All three of them are in my Top 20 of the year ^_^

f*** it, I love you, there you go. Three little words on a mobile phone...

And he appears again. It would have fared better had it not entered my chart at the top and let to climb instead. But the week I first heard it I had to download it and listened to it loads. I loved it right from first listen and am really quite gutted it's only #30. It's so lovely and the lyrics are so good. Brilliant.

Sterile. Immaculate. Rational. Perfect...

If this had rightfully been a single off their last album this would've easily been in my top 5 of last year. But because it wasn't released until I'd had it about 18 months it had lost some of the magic it used to have. Still a brilliant song, just doesn't feel very '2007' so has to settle for #29.

Oh the boy's a slag, the best you've ever had...

Their first appearence! And I've loved all of their singles this year so there's more to come! At first I didn't really see what all the fuss was about. It was god but I didn't think it was as great as everyone made it out to be. But after a while it really does click, it's so catchy and for a while I couldn't get it out of my head. A fine song.
