I don't see the connection - Love Missile has more in common with PIL than ATB.

its atrocious! one of the most derided tracks of all time.... i find it incredible that its got so much support.... they were a joke (well to us who were adults at the time anyway! :P )

Funeral Pyre was my favourite Jam single. Absolutely fantastic. Don't know which one I'm gonna pick.

tbh although funeral pyre is my preferance over 'thats entertainment', i think te is the stronger track being a bigger hit and subsequently more popular... id be surprised if funeral pyre won.

TBH Funeral Pyre wasn't in the running. Choosing between the others is more difficult. I don't think That's Entertainment was ever a big hit. Wasn't it released on import only or something.

That's Entertainment wasn't even top 20 if my memory serves me well....
That's Entertainment was an import and reached #21 in 1981.
.... indeed... thats entertainment peaked at #21, funeral pyre was #4 !!!! boy aint it funny how your memory becomes unreliable!

lol.. well you 'kids' liked s.a.w too and you cant tell me THAT was a good thing!

i think it was on the back of 'the punk generation' where 'we' took music somewhat more seriously, inovation, political messages etc, sss, s.a.w., bros, milli vanilli, etc etc etc were just seen as trivial, not real, travesty, ... ok, maybe 'we' were up our own arses, being somewhat pretencious, but it doesnt absolve these products as being c**p music!

the whole Sigue Sigue Sputnik thing - a gang of media whores who couldn't play but who looked the part and had the right attitude and who were, basically, a boyband with a twist.... exactly the same thing McLaren did with the Sex Pistols.

And Love Missile is one of the singles of the 1980s, even if it does rip off a Pistols bassline.

I think F1-11 summed up the 80s way better than any SAW produced schlock. Yeah it was manipulative but it was thrilling. Better than Phil Collins or the other bores around at the time.
