December 13, 200717 yr A 10 year old girl "probably" consented to sex with NINE men? Beggars belief dunnit...? As if she had a fukkin' choice.... If she'd said "no" or tried to fight, what the hell would they have done to her ffs...? <_< A terrified little girl cannot possibly stand up to NINE fully grown men.....
December 13, 200717 yr Well, let's hope this outrage leads to some pretty large heads rolling and a total overhaul of the system is put into effect.... The Judge and the Prosecution lawyers should be sacked instantly IMO, they clearly did NOT act in the best interests of that child... The reason why I call it institutional racism is because racial discrimination is defined within law as "treatment which is less favourable". I think it's bloody obvious to all that this girl received less favourable treatment in that court because she was an Aborigine, I have no doubt that a white girl would not have been so shamefully mistreated by the court.... ZERO tolerance for this utter shower of b/astards... A bloody JUDGE and a PROSECUTION LAWYER should damn well know the law.... absolutely....
December 13, 200717 yr Wrong as well... It's every bit as racist, the court is basically saying "We dont give a sh!t about Aboriginal/Black girls", regardless of who the perpetrators are. You honestly believe the same judgement would be handed down if a blonde haired, blue-eyed, white skinned girl was gang raped....? Like hell...... <_< So anyone that is from an ethnic minority which suffers an injustice is automatically a case of racism??? There is injustice everywhere and it´s not necessarily always linked to racial issues... If that was the case then they would be happy to send 9 aboriginal men to prison. It has nothing to do with their race, only the fact the 9 men were from a rich family and the girl was poor. I doubt this really reflects the whole situation in Australia, but it sound like another injustice case that happens everyday everywhere... Not that I´m sayng it´s justifiable, but one isolate case doesn´t compromise the whole system.

If one looks hard into the general trends within that particular state, what other questionable judgements have their been involving Aborigines....? I would imagine there's far more than just this one.... I cant possibly see how you can fail to find that race is a factor here tbh, Aborigines continue to be treated with contempt by much of Australian society, they are, in general, looked down upon and marginalised.... Like I say, the law defines discrimination as "Treatment which is less favourable", no pretty, blonde white girl would be treated like this, ergo, it is less favorable treatment, and ergo, it is wholly discriminatory, not just in my opinion, but in the LAW's.....

Totally agree. If the men had been aborigines and the girl some blonde, blue eyed "angelic" looking white girl, darn right they would've gone to jail. We can't ignore blantant discrimination in case some overly sensitive people assume that we're "playing the race card". What other reason could there be for this nonsense? Oh but it's okay to play the poverty card but not the racism one? That judge is sick in the head. Karma will visit her soon. Hopefully the little girl hasn't been permanently scarred and will go on to a brighter future.
December 14, 200717 yr Oh but it's okay to play the poverty card but not the racism one? Totally spot on. This has to be the most blatant example of Institutionalised Racism since the Stephen Lawrence and Rodney King "incidents". This is not some "PC handwringing" argument, this is a simple truth... Social Class probably plays a part in it as well, but I am not in the least convinced those blokes would've gotten away with it if even if it had been a poor white girl from the "wrong side of the tracks"... Race pretty much is the defining factor here both in the sentence and in how she has been treated by the court.
December 22, 200717 yr We Australians are totally outraged by this totally inadequate and very sick outcome for this little girl. Whats worse is that this little has been gang raped TWICE by members of her aboriginal community. Another time when she was SEVEN years old. Here is a bit of what happened to this poor child.... The girl was gang-raped at the age of seven in Aurukun on Cape York in 2002, and was later put into foster care with a non-indigenous family in Cairns. However, child safety officers in April 2006 returned her to Aurukun, where she was raped again at the age of 10. http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2007/12/11/1197135463456.html Because of the public outcry a few heads have rolled. But I really want to see this judge pay big time for those disgusting comments that she made about this young girl. Talk about a heartless b**ch.

December 22, 200717 yr I don't understand. Their saying because the 10-year old girl agreed to let him do that to her (because she was probably $h!tting for her life) that the man isn't guilty :o Ooer!
