May 29, 200817 yr I finale does look really good. I've not been this excited about an episode of Lost ever, I am actually considering staying up tonight until I find the episode somewhere.
May 30, 200817 yr Arghh such a long wait until Season 5. :( I'll put what I thought in spoiler tags for the people that haven't yet seen the episdoe. First off, it HAD to be Locke in the coffin. They've left it open for a whole season and in the end I really think it had to be Locke. I kinda get the impression they're going to get the island to revive him too... seems kinda strange but don't forget Ben just teleported a year into the future. Aaron must be some sort of prodigal child too, and Sun looks to have turned bad. I wouldn't be suprised at all if Penny dies next in Season 5 either. I'm confused about the island people though, just who is left? I wonder if Daniel etc. got transported by the island. :o And I wonder whether Jin is dead too. I don't think he is personally, but then again he'd be lost in sea as I don't think he got transported the island?...Michael's death was kinda creey though. For a moment I thought Libby had re-appeared, but it was Christian telling him he can die now. All in all it was a good finale. Roll on January 2009. :D
June 1, 200817 yr Author Great finale but not as good as series 3. They made out there would be a big twist but I didn't think there was any twist really, which is what let it down. It was so heart wrenching when Jin didn't make to the helicopter in time, I almost shed a tear  As for Sun, I don't think she's gone bad, I think this just adds more weight to the argument of who is actually the baddy - Ben or Widmore? I really wanted to see what happened to those left on the island. Sawyer, Juliette, Locke, Rose, Bernard, Claire (although she won't be back till series 6), Charlotte and Miles are all still on the island, and maybe Daniel too. I think the freighter people's story was something that got cut from this series due to the writers strike, the fact that Charlotte was maybe born on the island??? I'm trying to work out whether she was an Other, or one of the Dharma people...or maybe from another group. I want to know who Kate was talking to on the phone in Something Nice Back Home. She said to Jack something like "I was doing something for him (Sawyer)" It can't have been Locke considering how much she flipped out about when he came to see her so that makes me think it was Ben but it doesn't all seem to match up with what we saw in the finale. I think what's going to propel the last two series forward is the thing about what Locke said about some "very bad things happening" after Jack left the island. ..

I think what's going to propel the last two series forward is the thing about what Locke said about some "very bad things happening" after Jack left the island. .. Well i've seen several people say this now, and I never really believed it but maybe Jacob is the real bad guy? Ben said he didn't order the purge, but who did? My guess is on Jacob, but then who is Jacob? The island? I dunno. But the island obviously wants the Oceanic 6 back, just like it wanted Michael back. Maybe Aaron and Sun's children are like the prodical children? But Jacob didn't want Ben anymore. It made him move the island to get rid of him, and the island gave him a tumour!!. The mind boggles. The "very bad things" is interesting. I'm gonna say they happened because of Locke. It's been well documented that Locke isn't a good leader... he looks to guidance from other people, and i'm sure he'll do that with Richard. So maybe Locke sets Jacob free from his cabin and he goes AWOL on the island?
June 2, 200817 yr Loved the finale! Was horrible when the frieghter blew up and Sun had to watch it :o Penny & Desmond  so good to see them reunited at last! I guessed in the end that it was Locke in the coffin!! :o I wouldn't be surprised if he somehow comes back to life though!! Why do the Oceanic 6 refer to him as 'Jeremy Bentham' though? Surely when they're around each other they would just call him Locke...weird Argh it's all so confusing...bring on season 5 now lol!!! Oh and have you seen this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWWMYFAycmQ :o They filmed two alternative endings. Would they seriously have used them though?!! Edited June 2, 200817 yr by Natanna
June 2, 200817 yr Amazing final... it actually answered some questions for once and posed a load of new ones as usual! I hope that the people on the island are in S5 and it's not just concentrated on the Oceanic 6. But I guess Desmond won't be on it anymore :( PS. How different does Walt look now?

Would they seriously have used them though?!! Probably to protect his identity, and also so that people wouldn't guess it was Locke in the coffin until the end. I think they've always planned for Locke to be in the coffin. Sawyer and Desmond filming scenes will have just been red herrings to confuse potential spoiler leaks (didn't do much good though...). Sawyer being in the coffin would make no sense with what Kate said, and then Desmond didn't really fit either. Amazing final... it actually answered some questions for once and posed a load of new ones as usual! I hope that the people on the island are in S5 and it's not just concentrated on the Oceanic 6. But I guess Desmond won't be on it anymore :( PS. How different does Walt look now? Nahh there'll definitely be a lot of island stuff next season. I assume that's when some mysteries will be revelaed, but y'never know. And Desmond will be back. Maybe not as a series regular, but he'll be back in some capacity i'm sure. They hinted at so much stuff with Widmore and Desmond, like Jack said "don't let him find you" and then Sun said to Widmore that the O6 weren't the only ones who left the island. Hate to say it, but I don't think Desmond and Penny will live happliy ever after, I can see Ben killing Penny and then Desmond going AWOL.
June 2, 200817 yr PS. How different does Walt look now? I know! I was just listening to the skyone lost initiative podcast for this episode and I laughed so much when they described him as '35-year old Walt'!! Seriously, he looks sooo much older now!
June 2, 200817 yr Woah that episode was alot to take in. Locke in the coffin, i couldnt have guessed it, after he became leader of the others i didnt think he would of left the island, unless he left the island for similar reasons Ben has done in the past (one assumes by the fake passports). I want to know why they called him by Jeremy Bentham, its quite confusing. Will Jack get back to the island? i hope he does, as Ben said he needs to get everyone to go back, including the dead Locke, so obviously he has to persuade the rest of the O6, but does he also have to bring back Desmond, and possibly even Frank? Ben seems to be willing to guide him bak to the island, even though he cannot return. If they bring Locke back to the island i think he may become alive again, Christian Shepard seemed to come back alive from the dead on the island. The scene where Ben moves the island was brilliant, how far below the island was he? and why was it so cold, i would of thought it be hotter that far down below. Also something i noticed was the big stone thing by the ladder Ben fell off of, it had some sort of ancient scripting on it, which also reminded me of when Ben summoned the smoke monster, he went through that back room into a stone type place, i think these things are going back to the mythology of the island and could be connected with the four toed statue. When Ben said the line 'I hope you happy now Jacob' i think thats an important momment to knowing more about Jacob, is he really quite a bad guy, even though the others are supposedly 'the good guys'. I dont think we will see Daniel again becuase he sort of just left with some extras, no one else notable. However i think Charlotte and Miles will still be in it, it seems Charlotte has some roots with the island, maybe with dhama, she did seem pleased when she found that Polar bear in the desert, did that polar Bear move the island becuase if im not mistaken Ben ends up in the desert. As for prodigal children, i think Sun's will be but i dont think it will be very elaborated on becuase her child will be too young for the last two series, however i do think Aaron is, especially with Claire warning Kate in her dream not to bring him back to the island (although he will have to go back if Jack gets what he wants). Walt has aged a bit , he is however a very important character and i hope we see more of him in the next two series, maybe why the otheres once took him will be awnsered. Now we have the long wait for season 5 :( Hopefully we will see just as much Island scenes as O6 scenes, although i have a feeling they will focus on the O6. Also will they now not have Flash forwards or backs now that the island is now in sync with the O6 arriving back to civilisation. I wonder where the island has moved to and will it change the climate of the island, and has it moved in time at all? Also when was it last moved?
June 2, 200817 yr The final was quite simply one of the finest pieces of TV I have ever seen. It was so bloody gripping with so many things going on and alot of answers. It was better than the vast majoriy of great thrillers films would be, and definatly on par with the amazing season 3 final. It definatly confirms Lost as the best TV show in the world by a bloody mile for me
June 3, 200817 yr Since the finale has aired, quite a few people have been checking out about Jeremy Bentham on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeremy_Bentham I've checked it out, and this is the most interesting part As requested in his will, his body was preserved and stored in a wooden cabinet, termed his "Auto-icon". Originally kept by his disciple Dr. Southwood Smith,[11] it was acquired by University College London in 1850. The Auto-icon is kept on public display at the end of the South Cloisters in the main building of the College. For the 100th and 150th anniversaries of the college, the Auto-icon was brought to the meeting of the College Council, where he was listed as "present but not voting".[12] Tradition holds that if the council's vote on any motion is tied, the auto-icon always breaks the tie by voting in favour of the motion. The Auto-icon has always had a wax head, as Bentham's head was badly damaged in the preservation process. The real head was displayed in the same case for many years, but became the target of repeated pranks by King's College London students including being stolen on more than one occasion. It is now locked away securely.
June 3, 200817 yr DEFINATE LINK!!!!!!!!!!!! i find this more intresting, On Jeremy Bentham's page it says Influenced by John Locke so i went on to John Locke's page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Locke John Locke (August 29, 1632 – October 28, 1704) was an English philosopher. Locke is considered the first of the British Empiricists, but is equally important to social contract theory. His ideas had enormous influence on the development of epistemology and political philosophy, and he is widely regarded as one of the most influential Enlightenment thinkers and contributors to liberal theory. His writings influenced Voltaire and Rousseau, many Scottish Enlightenment thinkers, as well as the American revolutionaries. This influence is reflected in the American Declaration of Independence. :o
June 3, 200817 yr All the names on the show have some sort of relevance / reference to famous philosophers or other famous people. Take Charlotte for example, her full name initials spell out CSL, which is in reference to CS Lewis, who wrote the Narnia books. Now Charlotte has been to the island before and has come back to it, a bit like those kids in Narnia...:P But the link between Bentham and Locke is interesting to say the least.
June 3, 200817 yr I love how even their names have meanings! The producers of this show are just so damn clever!! I've read some really interesting theories about Charlotte...that she is either Ben's biological daughter or his childhood friend 'Annie' :o Would be cool if that was true!

June 3, 200817 yr But if she was Annie surely she'd be much older? Lots of people seem to think Charlotte is Annie, but I don't buy it. Maybe she is Annie's daughter though...
June 12, 200817 yr Im not sure if Charlotte is Annie, lots of things dont make sense in that. I thought we would see Daniel again but now im not so sure but how else will we ever see Jin again since Daniel is possibly the only way Jin will be rescued and be alive for the next season.
