December 14, 200717 yr Thanks for clearing that up Shaky Fan! Some interesting bits of info I never knew as well. To be honest this thread has irritated me somewhat....why do people from England Scotland and Wales treat Northern Ireland as if its some alien place...we're just as much part of the Uk as you guys! In fact, if it wasn't for us then it wouldn't even be called the UK! (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland!) *Sigh* Glad I got that out :P
December 14, 200717 yr why do people from England Scotland and Wales treat Northern Ireland as if its some alien place I don't - one of my best friends Fiona was born and raised in Belfast. (According to her, she lived in the "only quiet area of town during the Troubles".)
December 14, 200717 yr Northern Ireland receives both TV from Main Land Britain, & from Eire. However, just because it gets Irish TV, (Eire), does not mean that its CD & DVD Sales are ignored, when it comes to the UK Charts. In 2004 the Northern Irish Population was 1,710,300. In 2001, it was 1,685,267. Presumably, it is about 1,735,000 now - December 2007. This means that Sales of DVD's & CD's from Northern Ireland will not be huge - very tiny compared to the rest of the UK - but, nevertheless, it IS part of the UK - so - of course Sales from there go towards the UK Charts - and certainly not towards the Irish Charts. After all, many people in Northern France, Holland, & Belgium can receive UK TV Broadcasts, but no one says that this means that those Countries should have their CD & DVD Sales added to the UK Charts! Or that the Sales of CD's & DVD's from Southern England, (where the Broadcasts reach the Continent from), should have their UK Sales added to the Charts of any European Countries that can receive UK TV! Anywhere in the UK has its CD & DVD Sales added towards the relevent UK Charts. There is 100% no question of that..... An - IF Northern Ireland were not part of the UK, it would be correct to simply call the Country Great Britain, or Britain, as that is what the large Island is called, that has England, Scotland, & Wales on it. The British Isles themselves, include Britain & the ENTIRE Island that is called Ireland - British Isles is a Geographical term, & not a Political one. And, I think that Ireland - North & South - is a very beautiful place - as is Britain - and can we please ALL just get along, & try not to offend each other? We are ALL people, after all.....
