Posted December 13, 200717 yr http://www.filmmakermagazine.com/blog/uploaded_images/Southland1-760421.jpg So what did you think of Southland Tales. its been a few days since i've seen it and only now am i trying to construct a comment on it. directed by one hit wonder Richard Kelly (well we have to see what the box is like) a creative who might not be the next big wonderkid afterall (and tbh donnie darko wasnt that great as it was in re-jiggled director cut vers of the film, more please??? no thank you) well the best way to describe this is as William Shakespear's Romeo + Juliet as directed not by #1 recording artist Baz Luhrmann, but by comedy "godknowswhatcyberpunks" sigue sigue sputnik as a homage to the blipverting science fiction show max headroom* while the rock disturbingly fiddles with his fingers, ...a lot daywatch may have also been a boring disappointing mass, but at least that had a few more good images like the first film. however for a film with Seann William Scott in it, at least the memory of American Pie's chief dudemeister stifler has been finally put to rest as actually he was not as bad as you might have imagined (dude whewre my monk!!!) *btw max headroom, was the reporter bloke just turned into a tv set after seeing the sign 'max headroom' at the end??? or was he still a real person in the next episodes as well???
December 13, 200717 yr i soooooo want to see this :o hasn't come to any cinema's near me yet though :( features Sarah Michelle Gellar and Mandy Moore
December 22, 200717 yr Author I want to see it, but apparently it's not very good. :( yeah dont bother [ yeah unless you're into Mandy or if you wanna trash the memory of donnie darko) go see the Nines with Ryan Reynolds instead as its a better use of your time. obv the nines is not in the same league as the theatrical donnie darko, but as a smaller indie / first direcing film (by john august - writer of go) it has some good ideas of what is real what is unreal, are we on tv here, is this SL, reality tv or whatever?? the type of film directs want as a first piece, where you would progress to donnie darko next and then further to something like a pan's labyrinth. rather from donnie darko to southland tales - first edit to southland tales - omg its still awful edit http://www.lashorasperdidas.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/nines_poster.jpg
December 28, 200717 yr I wish to see it for SMG, but if it's terrible I'll probably just wait for it to go to dvd and buy it then.
December 28, 200717 yr Bad reviews, I wouldn't part with my money over this film to be honest its trash
December 31, 200717 yr Author Is it really bad? yeah, stay at home and watch William Shakespear's Romeo + Juliet insted when it comes on film4 http://www.shakespeare.duncans.tv/images/romeo-and-juliet.jpg it is of a very similar stylistic approac but obv it helps to have william shakespear as the bedrock basis of the film and not some omgwhatthehellisthis type script that you need to disect from a series of comic books - graphic novels published prior to the film
