December 19, 200717 yr Fairytale Of New York is anything but boring. It is one of the very very few Christmas songs that can be put on any time of the year that I can appriciate for being the truly wonderful track it is, and not just as an Xmas song - and the best one of all time by a bloody landslide at that
December 19, 200717 yr I really really don't understand the big deal with the Pogues song at all :( It's really not that good imo, and I don't get why everyone loves it so much  It actually ranks about mid-table for me Christmas song wise. It's a drunk with bad teeth shouting at a woman who is only famous now for having died. Still, I'd prefer it at Xmas #1 than Leon.
December 19, 200717 yr The Pouges track is mint!!!, it's the Mariah one that's the problem!!!, epsecially the present in the video with the sparks coming off it before the song builds up. Edited December 19, 200717 yr by Marcus
December 19, 200717 yr Flop for Leon  Looks like it'll happen!!!, that HMV spokeman talks some $h!t at times.
December 19, 200717 yr I really really don't understand the big deal with the Pogues song at all.... a woman who is only famous now for having died. Slick, that's a dreadful thing to say, mate..... I suggest you check out Miss MacColl's back catalogue - she's one of the finest singer-songwriters this country has produced - ever. She's famous now because of this, not because of the horrific way in which she was murdered. Her songwriting talent is awesome - especially the wry, clever 'In These Shoes' - thisispop - can we have some Kirsty classics, please?
December 19, 200717 yr Do you not know people in real life then? This site is far from the tastes of the general public! If you're not female, no matter how successful you are you're not going to be as popular as some flop American teen star on here! That's the best comment in this entire thread. :heehee: The Pogues song is better than anything that little runt Leon could record. It deserves to be Xmas #1 after being denied it 5 times is it now? :o
December 19, 200717 yr Her songwriting talent is awesome - especially the wry, clever 'In These Shoes' - thisispop - can we have some Kirsty classics, please? I remember watching a performance of that once. She had lots of charisma as a performer but the lyrics were pretty shocking. I once met a man with a sense of adventure He was dressed to thrill wherever he went He said lets make love on a mountain top Under the stars on a big hard rock I said in these shoes? I dont think so I said honey, lets do it here. So Im sitting at a bar in guadalajara In walks a guy with a faraway look in his eyes He said Ive got as powerful horse outside Climb on the back, Ill take you for a ride I know a little place, we can get there for the break of day. I said in these shoes? No way, jose I said honey, lets stay right here. Then I met an englishman Oh he said Wont you walk up and down my spine, It makes me feel strangely alive. I said in these shoes? I doubt youd survive. I said honey, lets do it. Lets stay right here.
December 19, 200717 yr shocking? That's a fantastic lyric  Maybe her caustic delivery helps, too - In These Shoes is a tremendous song - lyrically, too. She was French and Saunders musical guest every week for a few series in the 90s.... always great on that, too. Edited December 19, 200717 yr by russt68
December 19, 200717 yr I'm sorry but who buys this c**p? If you really like the song and the song is fantastic, just download the original version and make it number one. The original one is fantastic and totally deserves the Xmas no:1 spot. I'd rather have Leona Lewis go back to number one and spend an 8th week at the top.

I believe it was also used at the start of a Sex And The City episode once as well?
December 19, 200717 yr I dont believe this Leon rubbish, they have been practically trying to give it away in shops today....but no one wants it! It will be lucky to get to 200k. Next week, it will crash and burn...bye bye! I would laugh if in a few weeks Bleeding Love is selling slightly more copies a week than that!

December 19, 200717 yr its midweek sales of 36,000 are only avaerage for normal releases let alone an x factor winner
December 19, 200717 yr I'm happy for Leon  It's obvious that he couldn't match the sales of Shayne or Leona, but it's still great sales for him :) And by the way, Shayne first single outsold Leona first single by a laaaarge gab in the first week, and that does't make Shayne a more popular singer than Leona finally! It's all about what will come next...
December 19, 200717 yr what's In These Shoes been used for on TV... anyone remember? A theme tune maybe?
December 19, 200717 yr what's In These Shoes been used for on TV... anyone remember? A theme tune maybe? As far as I know, the theme tune to Catherine Tate Show and it was also used at the start of an episode of the excellent Sex And The City.
