January 29, 200817 yr yeh, Duffy, Adele...so many amazing female vocalists starting off this year. Reckon also check out new birds gabriella laura marling and lykke li. Good stuff for 2008!
January 29, 200817 yr well i guess with saying that they are all of the same jazzster/soulster kinship to Winehouse (pos-winehouse soulsters) - is having a useful ref point - as winehouse has become such an iconic star - so a v markable ref point - much more than Moyet, whos only probs a ref to Dawn French  . when Winehouse can have a career as long and as genre-defying and as great as Moyet's - give me a call. To call Winehouse an 'icon' is utterly, totally absurd - she's had 2 albums, one of which was mega-hyped a few years back and flopped on its arse. Not quite sure what the Dawn French dig was at all, didn't understand that one - but if you're hinting Moyet's only successful because of Dawn French, I can only assume you've lived in a cave in the Outer Hebrides for the past 26 years.

Will Amy Winehouse, Adele & Duffy managed 13 UK Top30 Albums between them throughout their careers.
January 29, 200817 yr I think Winehouse is an icon of our generation though. However, it's obviously not only the music that's made her this icon.
February 2, 200817 yr Well, I recently discovered Duffy and I must say that I think she is great! Rockferry is just superb and I am loving the 60s vibe. I do hope she has longevity though.

February 4, 200817 yr I think duffy will be the star of 2008 not adele, she has everything- her voice is really retro, tracks are catchy and unique, she has the LOOK- she is stunning, she has good stage presence, and has a lovely personality. Yep loving her. Have a feeling she will be massive this year. Adele is ok, but overrated and boring imo. and Laura Marling- seems to be another kate nash/ lily allen copy but better.
