Info: It took a while to grow but I eventually realised that this was a great comeback from Australian female singer Missy Higgins! A mid-tempo ballad which builds to an excellent singalong chorus, it stayed in my top 10 for 12 weeks in May and would have been a No.1 if not for the darn Eurovision songs...

Info: Gary takes the lead once again on this amazing song from the fantasy film Stardust...an anthemic rock ballad, its even better than Patience in my opinion and one of the best things the boys have ever done...it also stands up to the sales of many of their 90's No.1 singles, selling well over 300k so far in the UK!!!

Info: the winner is 'ScoochCyndi'...oh how I hoped it would be Scooch and IT WAS!!! Cyndi was lovely but she was French and I have a nostalgic attachment to Scooch from their brilliant 2000 single For Sure. Anyway this brilliant if very cheesy was a flop at Eurovision finishing second to last (joint with France) but we got 12 points from Malta, the video is one of the best of the year and it was the first UK top 5 hit for Scooch in 7 years! What more could we ask for...

Info: There is nothing especially spectacular about this song but it just made its way into my consciousness for quite a few months at the start of the year. Many people will argue that it is Timbaland's weakest single of 2007 and indeed it is his lowest selling but I can't help that feel that it has a charm to it. It sounds excellent in a club, excellent on a CD and even though the video is just about the cheapest thing ever made I always love to watch it! Brilliant stuff from all 3 artists!

Best Tracks: Sober, Be Still, Irvine, How I Feel

 

Info: The 3rd studio album from Kelly saw her face a backlash from critics. Many argued that this was a weak album and she had lost her edge from Breakaway. True, Breakaway is her best album, and in my opinion one of the best albums of all time, but My December is a strong follow up. Though it perhaps isn't as radio friendly as its predecessor, the lyrics are incredibly personal and the music on many of the tracks is great. Never Again was an awful choice of lead single and the only weak track on here. Sober is a gorgeous ballad while Irvine is simply a simply haunting yet beautiful song. How I Feel sees Kelly go back to her Country roots which is no bad thing. I absolutely love this album and can't wait to see her live in March!

Best Tracks: Flying The Flag (For You), Work Your Magic, Water, Song #1

 

Info: Back in the day when I had fewer money and albums loads of compilations made my end of year chart...this is the only one in the top 20 this year and ends up much higher than Eurovision 2006 which was my 11th best album of last year...the reason for this is simple: the song standard as a whole was much higher this year. Apart from the 4 songs listed as my favourite tracks (which have already appeared in the singles chart) there were other great songs from Serbia, Sweden, Hungary, France, Finland, Ireland and Cyprus amongst others and the strength of those kept this album at my No.1 spot for 6 weeks, a record for a Eurovision compilation album!

Best Tracks: Shine, Patience, Mancunian Way, Wooden Boat

 

Info: This is the original version here, not the deluxe edition which would include We All Fall Down and Rule The World amongst my favourites. This album finished inside my top 20 of last year having only been out for a few weeks and this year the boys climb to No.3 on the end of year chart having spent nearly the whole year inside the top 20 weekly chart. It's a fantastic comeback album that shows that the boys can survive in different musical eras with mature ballads and upbeat pop tracks. Mark, Gary, Jason and Howard all get their chance to shine on separate tracks and its one of the most complete collections to come out for many years and a fantastic comeback that will be hard to beat when they get round to releasing another album! The deluxe edition has spawned an incredible 7 top 10 hits in my chart and the album has sold over a million copies in the UK on two consecutive years!

Info: What end of year countdown would be complete without the perfect pop album? I always put this on to cheer me up and it always works! Having had this album since January it truly has been my soundtrack to 2007 and every track is a gem. From the pure pop of Grace Kelly, Love Today and Lollipop to the balladry of Happy Ending and My Interpretaion via the humour of Billy Brown and Big Girl, there is something for everyone on here and I genuinely love every single track on the album! It will be a tough act to follow for Mika when he brings out a second album!

Info: All the best albums come with a story...it was the start of my LONG summer holiday and I was looking on MySpace and came across a gorgeous song called The Little Things. That exact moment I ordered the girl's album as it was at that point only available in America. It was in fact the week the album came out in America and it debuted at No.5 there that week! Little had I realised that it was such a hugely anticipated release...if you like she's the equivalent of our Lily Allen/Arctic Monkeys (MySpace phenomenon). I thought nothing more of it until the CD popped through my door a few days later...the first 9 tracks were absolute perfection and all hits in my weekly chart. The last 3 tracks were also very good and the b-sides from this album's era are all absolutely brilliant too. This is a faultless album from a woman with a gorgeous voice...if you don't have it I massively recommend it...its truly my best find of 2007!

Info: The shock of the year was this single! A good song from Fergie...who would have thought it! I first heard this song in the early summer and it shot up my chart from No.20 to No.1 in one week and hung around like a bad smell for the rest of the summer including a month at No.1...an absolutely gorgeous R & B ballad with a classic chorus...

Great to see Scooch top 10 :lol: :cheer: They only spent one week top 10 for me but had about 16 weeks on the chart altogether :blush: Great chart :D

Info: How did this only reach No.8 in the UK chart? When Mutya's Real Girl reached No.2 as her debut single I thought that this would go all the way to No.1 (it made No.1 for me way back in March when I got it on MP3). However when it was finally released in the summer it stalled at No.8, though the incredible electro pop anthem was Groove Armada's biggest ever hit...

3. Delta Goodrem-Believe Again

 

 

Top 10 Chart Run: 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1

 

Info: Despite 'Delta' being a much weaker album than her first two it certainly does not seem that way from the first track. Believe Again is an absolutely epic ballad from Delta in the way that Frozen is to Madonna. It lasts for almost 6 minutes but I still never get bored of it and always listen to the entire song. From the incredible Disney sounding string section introduction through to gospel choir at the end its just a sensational song and has been at No.1 in my chart for 10 weeks so far...perhaps if I had heard it a few weeks earlier it might have ended the year as the best song but for 2007, it finishes at No.3 and is sure to appear again in 2008's end of year countdown!

Info: Swedish singer Robyn made an astonishing comeback in 2007 with the brilliant dance ballad With Every Heartbeat. Produced by Kleerup (both acts are incredible live) I first heard the song in December 2006 and it reached my top 20 a few months later...once I saw the brilliant video though it all clicked into place and the song spent five weeks at No.1 in my chart and incredibly made the No.1 spot in the UK...the only non British or American act to do so this year! It was like the 90's all over again!

Top 10 Chart Run: 3-1-1-2-2-3-7-7-7-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-2-4-8

 

Info: Hitting No.1 for a couple of weeks in 2006, this was my No.31 of last year! This year the brilliant uptempo pop song from the four boys climbs 30 places and becomes the first ever end of year chart topper by a male act! It spent a further 7 weeks at the top to take its total to 9 and I still never get bored of the song. From the moment I first heard it the song was the standout track on Beautiful World and it sounded like the boys hadn't aged at all since they'd been away. The song has been one of the big UK hits of the year, hanging around for ages and selling over a quarter of a million copies...I would have never thought that possible this time last year! Mark helped the boys to another No.1 in my chart in July with We All Fall Down though that finished just outside the end of year top 40...
