Analysis

 

All change once again this week…The album chart sees 12 albums losing momentum and falling, with the longest runner KT Tunstall dropping a place to leave the top 10…However Shakira’s Oral Fijacion Volume 1 doesn’t budge and neither does The Very Best of Euphoric Dance Breakdown!!! The top 10 sees 2 new entries but starts with James Blunt who dips to No.10. Atomic Kitten score their 5th top 10 album with The Collection in at No.9 while Cascada and Beth Orton fall slightly with Shakira staying at No.6 with Oral Fixation Volume 2!!! Kelly Clarkson plummets from No.1 to 5th place this week while The Veronicas stay at No.4. Mash Up Mix 2006 enters a place lower than its 2005 counterpart at No.3 while Corinne Bailey Rae’s debut album moves up to a new peak of 2nd place. And for a third stint and a fourth week, Carrie Underwood climbs back to No.1 with huge American seller Some Hearts!!!

 

The singles chart sees a fairly low 3 new entries with Corinne Bailey Rae’s Butterfly and Shakira’s recent Spanish single No debuting in the bottom two places. Dance producer Joey Negro scores the highest new entry at No.12 with Make a move on me!!! Elsewhere below the top 10, Madonna and KT leave the top 10 while Girls Aloud and The Veronicas edge back up the chart with their respective ballads!!! City Chix dip to No.10 this week with Shakira shooting up to No.9 with Hips don’t lie followed by Whenever you remember by Carrie Underwood which moves up to 8th place. Beth Orton moves from 2nd to 7th place while former No.1’s from Meck and The Veronicas swap places as the latter jumps back to No.5 on its 8th week in the top 10!!! Carrie’s country track I ain’t in Checotah anymore moves up to No.4 while last week’s No.1 from Corinne Bailey Rae moves down to 3rd place…Kelly Clarkson climbs to a new peak of No.2 with Walk away while Jesus take the wheel by Carrie Underwood finally tops the chart on its 7th week in the top 5!!!

Wednesday is here and its time to look at who is likely to make a sunday spash. Carrie Underwood wants a second week at No.1 but a revitalised Veronicas and a huge climb from Joey Negro aim to stop that...and the small matter of newcomer Natasha Thomas who looks certain for an extremely impressive top 5 debut!!!

 

The albums sees another strong battle between, Carrie, Corinne, The Veronicas and Mash Up Mix but who will be No.1???
