Posted December 29, 200717 yr 1977 RETRO RECORDS OF THE YEAR :cheer: :yahoo: :w00t:  Vote for your favourite Top20 (or minimum Top10) from the list of 50 Records from 1977. Your First choice (Favourite) song will score 20 pts, 2nd = 19 Pts....down to 20th = 1 point. Please state in your list if you are scoring by position or Points. I am playing this game across both BuzzJack & UKMix. Therefore if you vote please can you only vote in one of the sites threads especially if you have a different name on each site (like me). For each year 1964 to 1997 inclusive & games (*) for the years 1960-1; 1962-3 & two alphabetically track name split lists for the 1950s. There are 50 tracks that I feel best represent the year* in popular music. This certainly does not always mean the biggest hits of the year, but tracks (including album tracks) that over time have come to best represent the year. Please note songs will only feature once for the most well-known or definitive version of a song (example “Without You” will only appear in 1972 for Nilsson, but will be absent in 1994 for Mariah Carey). Also please don’t mention that I have put the song in the wrong year as the year the track was recorded, released (on an album), a hit (peaked) in the UK, a hit (peaked) in the USA can result in three of four different answers, and there will be literally hundreds of songs that fall into that category. For each game you will have four weeks to get your votes in (two weeks for the vote from the shortlist of 50 songs, then two weeks to vote from the "Missing" songs that you have nominated). I will be posting two of these Games a Week at the weekend. (VOTING RULES FOR SPECIFIC GAME 1950s: Top25 make the Record of The Decade Final; 1960s & 1990s: Top 4 From Each Game make the Final, 5th to 10th make the Play-offs; 1970s & 1980s: Top 3 each year make the Final, 4th to 8th make the Play-Offs. PLUS: Your choices of missing songs being included in the relevant Play-offs) Phase 2: The Record Of The Decades Finals will result in the following numbers making the Final 200 (1950s: Top20; 1960s: Top50, 1970s Top45; 1980s Top45; 1990s Top40), where they will be split into 4 Quarter Finals, leading to the Final 50 Songs of the Retro Record Game A: Vote for your favourite 20 (minimum 10 out of the following:) 10cc - The Things We Do For Love Abba - Knowing Me Knowing You Abba - The Name Of The Game AC/DC - Whole Lotta Rosie Baccara - Yes Sir, I Can Boogie Barbra Streisand - Evergreen (Love Theme - A Star Is Born) Bee Gees - How Deep Is Your Love Bill Conti - Gonna Fly Now (Theme From "Rocky") Bob Marley - Jamming Carly Simon - Nobody Does It Better Carpenters - Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft Clash - White Riot Commodores - Easy David Bowie - Sound And Vision David Bowie - Heroes Donna Summer - I Feel Love Eagles - Hotel California Elkie Brooks - Pearl's A Singer Elvis Costello - Alison Elvis Presley - Way Down Emotions - Best Of My Love Eric Clapton - Wonderful Tonight Fleetwood Mac - Dreams Fleetwood Mac - Go Your Own Way Foreigner - Cold As Ice Heatwave - Boogie Nights Hot Chocolate - So You Win Again Ian Dury & The Blocklheads - Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll Iggy Pop - Lust For Life Julie Covington - Don't Cry For Me Argentina Kraftwerk - Trans-Europa Express Leo Sayer - When I Need You Marvin Gaye - Got To Give It Up Neil Young - Like A Hurricane Paul McCartney & Wings - Mull Of Kintyre Peter Gabriel - Solsbury Hill Queen - We Are The Champions Queen - We Will Rock You Ramones - Sheena Is A Punk Rocker Rod Stewart - I Don't Want To Talk About It Rose Royce - Car Wash Sex Pistols - God Save The Queen Sex Pistols - Pretty Vacant Status Quo - Rockin' All Over The World Stevie Wonder - I Wish Stevie Wonder - Sir Duke Stevie Wonder (or David Parton) - Isn't She Lovely Stranglers - No More Heroes Talking Heads - Psycho Killer Tom Robinson Band - 2-4-6-8 Motorway B: Nominate Two songs from 1977 MISSING from this 50 track shortlist. While your selection of missing songs will be put to a vote with the winning track (or tracks in event of a tie) joining the Record of The Decade Play-Off. You have until Saturday 12th January to vote for your favourite Top 20 (minimum Top 10) songs of the Year.
