Lots of sources are saying that the provisionary release date for the album is December 9th. That's what Sony have been sending out to radio stations and other media. I doubt she will get something out that early but we can always hope.

What Sony sent out where provisional release dates, I don't know what it means, but I think it has something to do with them being subjected to change. ?

 

But if anything, if it's not released in December, then it will deffinatly be January 09.

Yeah, basically it's just the date they've set but it's very subject to change. At the end of 2006 Madonna and Mariah were both meant to be releasing their albums in 2007 but obviously that's changed.

 

This is just a rumour, but apparently Shakira has to release an album by this date to honour her contract with Sony. I don't think this is true but I wouldn't be surprised if this is the reason she's getting on with an album relatively quickly.

 

If she releases an album early 2009 which I think is most likely, it will only be like Shakira has been away for a year. She had La Tortura out in 2005, HDL in 2006 and then Beautiful Liar in 2007 as well as the Love In The Time Of Cholera songs. So even though it will be 4 years since she actually released a new album, it doesn't feel like too long really.

Not necesserily though. She could always market herself as a Tori Amos style artist so she can remain with her rock sound but still be quirky. It has to be remembered sales aren't anything. I'd rather her album sell 100 copies and be as good as DELL than it sell 10 million and be like LS.

 

Of course, diversity is good, just not selling out ~

 

I don't think she is selling out, musically she has changed, she isn't the same person she was when she made DELL.. i prefer her oral fixation albums/ laundry servie album to her older stuff as i can relate to them easier, where as i can't with her older stuff... Shakira will always have her quirky edge with any style she'd choose to go down... she should be allowed to make whatever sounding album she wants to and for her fans to accept it :wub:

Really? considering she has 'only just' released 2, that both sold well, i'd be surprised if they are hassling her to make a new one quickly... but saying that she didn't exactly do full out promotion of her last album's singles etc she just toured! So maybe this is why they want her to release again so soon? It'll be good for her career if she does and hopefully this time we will see more of shakira on the tv, promotion wise in the uk, then she can go tour again in 09 or 2010 :wub:

i don't believe there is a single called temptress and that she has worked with snoop dogg. how has she had time to record new song or songs and delivered this song so it can be previewed by someone. shakira doesn't let sony hear anything she does until her whole album is finished and she takes her time with her albums, she says to them "see you in 6 months" when she begins each new project. also remember she tweaked "la tortura" for one month after it was supposed to be done, she kept adding and changing till it was to her liking. i am sure she has written many songs while travelling and in her time off but as far as going to the studio to arrange and record them i highly doubt it. she has not had a big chunk of time to do this.

 

an album coming late 2008 sounds good and timing wise is doable if she starts working in the studio soon. i'm sure it will be like all shakira's previous album ecclectic with commercial and uncommercial tracks maybe with spanish and english tracks combined instead of the double fixation project which is hard work for her promo wise. it means we may get less songs cause she won't split the album in two. but i reckon we will get many songs like up to 15 on the one album.
