Posted December 30, 200717 yr Hello, I hoped you've all had a joyful 2007 and enjoyed the music it has had to offer. I'll now guide you to the 40 singles and 10 albums this year I enjoyed the most. I'll reveal 10 songs per day until we reach the top 10, then I'll cross that bridge when I get to it with the speed in which I'll count that down. At some point I'll reveal the top 10 albums too. NOTE: This chart was collected from data of my personal charts of the year and calculated by a points system. It may not be the most accurate representation, but it was the fairest way of doing it as far as I could see. So without futher ado, let's get down to it and reveal 40 - 31! :cheer:
December 30, 200717 yr Author 40: Mutya Buena - Just A Little Bit http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/1748789.JPG 9sdRzQXzqKM We kick off the 40 with a single by former Sugababe Mutya Buena which sadly flopped on the official chart but I really loved this, and it's a shame. A very soulful, well written and meaningful song which peaked at #7 on my chart.
December 30, 200717 yr Author 39: Groove Armada Feat. Mutya Buena - Out Of Control http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/88697114322.JPG _lMJW4V49Yc And from one Mutya single to another, and her final feature on this chart. Mutya teamed up with dance gurus Groove Armada to create this funky electro pop number which charted in the official top 10 in August. I was a tad more generous and placed it at #4 on my chart. By the way, watch the youtube video above to see what is possibly the worst music video ever made.
December 30, 200717 yr Author 38: Hilary Duff - With Love http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/HDUFFPRECD.JPG jwXxUTGNe2U Now this was a shocker, Hilary Duff actually released an incredible song which I was hoping would become a huge hit for her, but sadly it was a flop. It made the UK top 30 earlier this year, whereas on my chart it peaked at #2. The even more shocking thing was, Hilary's album Dignity was also a very solid pop gem.
December 30, 200717 yr Author 37: Amerie - Gotta Work http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/88697138472.JPG 3MsTWvaLwFc The first of two entries on this chart for Amerie ('Take Control' is still to come), 'Gotta Work' narrowly missed the top 20 in the summer, on my chart it made #4.
December 30, 200717 yr Author 36: Robyn - Handle Me http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/1751222.JPG x4UHNhVSrEM The first of two entries for Swedish comeback queen Robyn ('With Every Heartbeat' is still to come), this manbashing anthem made the official top 20 last month and #3 in my chart. You also get to see Robyn looking very androgynous in the video.
December 30, 200717 yr Author 35: Armand Van Helden - I Want Your Soul http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/ECB125CDS.JPG f4RWiK_cjjs 'I Want Your Soul' was a recent top 20 hit for Armand Van Helden, and a #2 hit on my chart. This is an uplifting, feelgood dance anthem with an hint of 80s, and boy do I love it.
December 30, 200717 yr Author 34: Stefy - Hey School Boy http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/88697060532.JPG YcrQGZ3U91E This sadly wasn't a single here, but I doubt it would have done well in the current climate had it been released. Alas, this made #2 for me at the start of the year. 'Hey School Boy' is a genius pop nugget from underrated electro-pop outfit Stefy. In this song, she proclaims her lusting after a 17 year old school boy in a quirky manner. The lead singer Stefy Rae is easily one of the world's sexiest women too, just see the video for visual evidence
December 30, 200717 yr Author 33: New Young Pony Club - Ice Cream http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/MODVL61.JPG 1yYAOUc7YBE This perfect slice of indie-disco was pretty much my soundtrack to the summer, and overall this band were one of my best discoveries of the year. You may be more familiar with this track as the soundbed for an iPod advert last year, and their album Fantastic Playroom shall feature in my top 10 albums later, but is it #1? This scraped into the official top 40 in the summer and made #2 on my chart.
December 30, 200717 yr Author 32: Amerie - Take Control http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/88697085182.JPG 1WL1zEShsfw This was definitely a highlight of 2007 for me, an utterly amazing and addictive song however I don't get the first 30 seconds of the video. Amerie is in my opinion one of the very best of her genre, and far more talented than the vastly overrated Beyonce and it's criminal Beyonce gets more success. This was a top 10 hit in the official chart and a #1 for me.
December 30, 200717 yr Author 31: Foo Fighters - The Pretender http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/88697160732.JPG DKhnmUdmz74 A truly brilliant comeback single from Foo Fighters which crashed into the UK top 10 in September and made a very respectable #4 for me. This for me ranks as their second best song ever (behind 'DOA').
