5: Stefy - The Orange Album

http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/88697060532.JPG

Stefy sadly slipped completely under the radar this year and went by unnoticed, which is a shame as we need more acts like these bringing back brilliant pop music. Upon recently rediscovering this album, I found that the lyrics were really bad in places but if you can get past that you will enjoy this brilliant 80s-esque electro-pop gem. I must also say that the lead singer, Stefy Rae is definitely one of the world's sexiest women.

4: New Young Pony Club - Fantastic Playroom

This band were undoubtedly my hottest discovery of the year, and sadly another band to slip pretty much completely under the radar. New Young Pony Club's fresh and innovative marriage of indie and disco was perfect, you may recognise their 'Ice Cream' single from an old iPod advert.

3: Natasha Bedingfield - NB

http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/PRERELCDNATBED.JPG

This album was going to be the decider of whether I would become a Natasha fan or not, initially when I bought it I was disgusted, but after I gave it enough chances I began to really love this album. On NB, Miss Bedingfield established herself as what I think one of the best lyricists out there, with her quirky view on things we all deal with in every day life such as; not choosing a path in life because someone else wants you to, being the movemaker in seducing somebody, wondering if her 'Soulmate' really is out there, being confused by emotions and wanting to enjoy those good moments while they last. It's a shame this album was such a flop for her, whilst not being as good musically or as diverse as her debut Unwritten, this was definitely a more than worthy follow-up. Natasha is a brilliant talent.

I love the Natasha Bedingfield album! :cheer:

Mmm, Kylie for number one?

2: Kylie Minogue - X

Of course Kylie was always going to be one of my most anticipated albums of the year, if not the most anticipated... but she returned with an album that truly amazed me. I think it's fair to say this is my second favourite Kylie album ever behind Light Years, I can honestly say I like every song on it. It's an album packed to the brim of some of the best pop gems in years, and is an essential pop album. Bravo Kylie Minogue, I salute you.

Highlights:

In My Arms

The One

Stars

Wow

Like A Drug

Oh you slag.

I didn't expect these to be top 2 :o Jokin

How dare you not go by my order.

1: Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Trip The Light Fantastic

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/2/24/SEB_TripLight.jpg/200px-SEB_TripLight.jpg

It was fairly predictable that this would be my album of the year. Kylie had a tough job on her hands to beat this to my album of the year position and she didn't quite manage it, but it was very close!

Sophie is someone I have long idolised as there is simply no-one else out there like her, she has a class, sophistication and sheer talent that puts her above many of her peers in my opinion.

With her third outing, Trip The Light Fantastic, Sophie certainly didn't disappoint and delivered the perfect pop album. Of course it did underperform commercially, but the music buying public are stupid aren't they?

20: Booty Luv - Some Kinda Rush

http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/HK46CDS.JPG

Well what do you know, the first original single from this dance duo happened to be by far and away their best single to date. This anthemic pop-dance number immediately hooks you in from the word go. It made #1 on my chart and became a sleeper top 20 hit in the official chart. Some kinda rush indeed, whoooooosh!

19: Remi Nicole - Rock 'n' Roll

When I randomly stumbled across this video, I was in love straight away. I wasn't at all keen on her previous single 'Go Mr. Sunshine' (or any of her other material I've heard for that matter) but this got my attention. A quirky song and video, totally original in every way and I love the way she breaks a common stereotype here. This spent several weeks at #1 in my chart but sadly and undeservedly, completely bombed in the official chart.

18: Shiny Toy Guns - You Are The One

http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/1713024.JPG

Another single which made #1 in my chart but failed to make any impact on the official one. This irresistably catchy electro-pop/indie number was definitely one of my essential tracks of the early part of last year, this by rights should have been their big breakthrough but alas, it wasn't meant to be.

17: Fergie - Big Girls Don't Cry (Personal)

http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/1741332.JPG

A surprisingly mature song from the chav girl otherwise known for releasing songs about sex positions, having her fitness witnessed, poking fun at her lack of glamour or her clumsiness. This spent several weeks at #1 in my chart and made #2 in the official chart. However, since this has been horrifically overplayed I actually can't stand to listen to this anymore. End of really.

16: Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Today The Sun's On Us

http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/1741966.JPG

This was a slightly more mature than usual single from Sophie, mainly otherwise known for pure pop. A well written and constructed song about enjoying good times while they last is the first of four Sophie tracks in this countdown, will any of the others take pole position? This reached #2 in my chart and well, completely flopped in the official chart. I can't say that was totally undeserved, 'If You Go' really should have been the single instead of this.

15: Kylie Minogue - 2 Hearts

http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/PREKYELESCDS.JPG

Ms Minogue's comeback single initally gravely disappointed me, but it ended up growing on me quite a lot. Still, she could have picked a better comeback single and would have ended up much higher in this countdown, especially as most of X's album tracks are better than this. But anyway, at #15 it's Kylie Minogue with '2 Hearts' *fanfare etc*.

And now onto an ideal comeback single. This has it all, the anthemic factor, the totally addictive factor and the perfectly trashy factor. Marvellous.

Loving most of the songs so far Aly  I've recently got back into Fergie :kink: great for Sophie too :D I suspect Catch You & MAMI will be top 10/5?

13: The Hives - Tick Tick Boom

http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/1748910.JPG

This wild, fun rocking track was every inch as golden as the classic 'Hate To Say I Told You So' or 'Walk Idiot Walk'. This made #1 in my chart but sadly just missed out on a top 40 position on the official one.
