March 23, 200817 yr Author 12: Dannii Minogue - Touch Me Like That http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/CDGLOBE795.JPG cwbl807gX50 Contrary to how this performed in the official chart, I thought this was a seriously great track from the Danster. At least miles better than the crap 'Perfection' which did much better. Baffling.
March 23, 200817 yr Author Oh I deserve more than a 4 word reply :arrr: :P Here is a five word reply. :P
March 23, 200817 yr Dannii did better overall than Kylie? :o :o Blow me down with a feather and call me Brigitte :o
March 23, 200817 yr Author 11: Kelly Clarkson - Never Again http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/PRERELCDSKEL.JPG bPKUdoBKVqc Just before we get into the top 10, this was Kelly's comeback single after the mammoth Breakway era. This made #2 on my chart and briefly dipped into the lower part of the top 10 on the official one. Whilst it doesn't compare to any of Breakway's singles, I grew to love this and I was seriously addicted to it at one point. I also love the video where she's taunting the man, you can definitely relate to this if you've ever been screwed over by a lover. I was going to buy My December until I actually heard the album and disliked the majority of the tracks on it. Shame.
March 23, 200817 yr Author Dannii did better overall than Kylie? :o :o Blow me down with a feather and call me Brigitte :o It's the weekend. Is Brigitte your weekend alias? :kink: LOL omg you bum Notice how I tested your intelligence there with the SIX word reply? You failed the intelligence test Simon. :( Anyway, that's all for today folks. The top 10 will begin in July. ;)
March 23, 200817 yr Notice how I tested your intelligence there with the SIX word reply? You failed the intelligence test Simon. :( Anyway, that's all for today folks. The top 10 will begin in July. ;) Oh mann I was testing you to see if you'd notice my reply wasn't 6 words
March 24, 200817 yr Author So let's get into the top 10... 10: Britney Spears - Gimme More http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/88697186762.JPG m3ceCMpPJgc I don't like this girl at all, but this was such a brilliant comeback single. What on earth is that music video all about though? 5p budget much.
March 24, 200817 yr Author 9: Rihanna - Umbrella http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/1735491.JPG a4X7eFbP3u4 As far as I can recall, this was the only single of the year to manage #1 on both my personal chart and the official chart. Love it or hate it, this is a classic that will stand up for years to come, and surprisingly despite being everywhere since it's release, I'm still not bored of it. The video is vile and cheap however.
March 24, 200817 yr I'm impressed with the Top 10 so far Waggy :o Infact, both of those were in my Top 10 of 2007 ^_^
March 24, 200817 yr Author 8: Sophie Ellis-Bextor - If You Go http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/ELLISTRIPPRE.JPG zFrFD1HQXXY I charted this song shortly after the release of Trip The Light Fantastic as I was certain it would be the third single. Foolishly, it wasn't. I still maintain that this Xenomania produced pop masterpiece could have been the song to turn things around for her, it's a shame it went to waste.
March 24, 200817 yr Author 7: Nelly Furtado - Say It Right http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/9853919.JPG AO6SnX9s5-w When I first heard this song on Loose back in the summer of 2006, it was an immediate standout and from that moment on became far and away my favourite song of hers. I was delighted to see it go on to become a hugely successful single for her. A mesmerising and groundbreaking track with an incredible hook, this never gets old.
March 24, 200817 yr Author 6: All Saints - Chick Fit http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/3784412.JPG TzdrGyclyBY I totally adored this, and the underrated Studio 1 album. Although sadly after the album flopped as hard as it did, the release of this single was never going to do much, especially after it was relegated to being a download only single. 'Chick Fit' was an edgy, golden pop nugget and deserved to do well.
March 24, 200817 yr Author 5: Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Me And My Imagination http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/ELLISTRIPPRE.JPG fXBeb-9pUrc In hindsight, this appears a bit higher here than it should be. But this chart is compiled on a points system from how they performed in my personal chart so fair is fair. I think she could have chosen a better single from the album to release it off the back of, but regardless this is a nice catchy song about foreplay. I have started to get back into it again recently.
March 24, 200817 yr Big boooo at the ghastly MAMI appearing so high! -_- But otherwise very good. Yay for Dan! But wtf - Umbrella's vid was not cheap. :P
March 24, 200817 yr Author 4: Natasha Bedingfield - Soulmate http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/88697111992.JPG BEzbkGj7EaQ This is the highest song in the countdown not to reach #1 in my personal chart, it did reach #2 and had a very long run. This is a beautifully written ballad, very emotive and full of longing and desperation, and is stern proof of Natasha's brilliant talent. I was really glad this did so well for her, despite all the odds being stacked against her.
March 24, 200817 yr Author 3: Gwen Stefani - The Sweet Escape http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/GWENPRECD.JPG SMUOg7BebKE This anthemic retro-inspired gem had me hooked in from the moment I heard it on the album, and it went on to become easily her biggest single yet. This has suffered from horrendous overplay and the magic has worn off for me, so I'm avoiding hearing it for a couple of years. :P
March 24, 200817 yr Author 2: Rihanna - Shut Up And Drive http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/1746121.JPG dnxjGajndb0 Unlike most, I much prefered this single to 'Umbrella'. This electro clash monster laden with innuendo and double meaning was pretty much the soundtrack to my holiday in the summer. Totally amazing.
March 24, 200817 yr Author 1: Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Catch You http://991.com/newGallery/Sophie-Ellis-Bextor-Catch-You-387034.jpg k6UpEgx-bms This will probably come as no surprise to some, but Sophie's comeback single is my #1 single of 2007. I was eagerly anticipating her return for months and she didn't disappoint me. In fact, when I first got this song, I played it 156 times within the first day. :o 'Catch You' is extremely addictive with a classic, punchy chorus and essentially is 3 and a half minutes of making you feel as though your mind is a washing machine is on fast spin, not to mention it's a great song to blast out at full volume. 'Catch You' spent 10 weeks at #1 in my personal chart, and catapulted her back into the top 10 of the official chart after 3 years away. I also have to mention I had the pleasure of meeting this lady recently and she was honestly one of the loveliest people I have ever met, a totally down to earth woman, very bubbly, funny and charming and not to mention a total stunner in the flesh. Quite simply, the woman is perfect in every single way.
