Robbie's a right old Blockhead

BLOCKHEADS star CHAZ JANKEL’s collaboration with ROBBIE WILLIAMS is great news for the Robster.

But I’m not sure the same can be said for Blockheads fans.

Chaz will miss their gig at Cox’s Yard in Stratford-upon-Avon tonight because he is still working with Robbie in LA.

But never fear, PHILL JUPITUS is here. The comic will be fronting the band, as he has in the past.

A source revealed: “Chaz won’t be at the show because he is with Rob.

"He has got the support of his band and is still very much part of the group. But fans shouldn’t be too disappointed. Phill will be there.”

I can reveal that Robbie has wanted to work with Chaz for years.

He is a big Blockheads fan and performed with the band after frontman IAN DURY lost his battle with cancer in 2000.

The source said: “Robbie asked Chaz to write with him four years ago but he called again recently and they made it happen.”

Robbie, engaged in a tussle with EMI, warned fans earlier this month not to expect his proper new album until 2009.

But I’ve heard the funky stuff he’s doing with Chaz could give the grumpy star something to smile

Wow the Sun actually printed some truth :o LOL

The Blockheads site has confirmed that Chaz is working with Rob for Rob's upcoming album

Very exciting. I can only imagine what brilliance they'll come up with together B)

I think we should be prepared to be amazed.

SHE'S THE.. GONE FOR ROBBIE WILLIAMS

By Alice Walker, Emma Donnan & Katie Hind

Robbie Williams' hot romance with stunning actress AYDA FIELD has hit the rocks.

Pals predicted She's The One as American Ayda tamed the serial seducer superstar.

But SHE wants to stay near Hollywood to boost her career - while HE is getting fed up with LA and longs to be on the road.

The rift has deeply saddened Robbie, 33 - who had obviously piled on weight when the pair were recently spotted in Beverly Hills wearing the tracksuits of his footie team, LA Vale.

A source said: "When they started discussing the future it became clear they want different things.

"Robbie's life on tour or promoting his music can be hectic. He is feeling inspired but doesn't really want to record his next album in LA. Ayda is doing well and can't afford to be away from LA all the time."

Robbie has dated 28-year-old Ayda for 10 months.

The singer introduced her to former Take That bandmates GARY BARLOW and MARK OWEN and members of his family.

The source added: "Ayda stimulated Robbie mentally and physically.

"He was smitten. And because she has a career Robbie felt secure that she wasn't with him for his fame and money."

Ayda appears regularly on American TV and is on the verge of becoming a massive star after a role in sitcom Back To You.

"She's bright and sexy and made Robbie laugh," the source said. "It will be a shame if they can't work things out. But things are looking very rocky."

I'm sure they can work something out if they really want the relationship to be a succes. ^_^

The're not the first couple having to make a choice between love and work.

If it's meant to be it will happen

It's in The People. It must be true. -_-

Right...

I must say that article is funny, what with Rob wanting to get back out on the road and all

But I can see how the careers can cause a problem, its not like she's a film actress that works a couple of months out of the year and has freedom to move around. She is a television actress and being on a tv show is steady daily work which would keep her in LA. I have wondered how the relationship would work out when Rob actually starts working and is away from home for long periods of time. Long distance relationships are extremely difficult to maintain and often don't work out. Its great that Ayda has a career of her own, but often the career that is not all too flexible, can pose more problems than anything else. For Rob or anyone in the music business actually, I'd think it would be better if he has someone that is able to travel with him.

If he chose me as his beloved I would gladly give up my job and travel the world with him doing hee-haw

That's what he needs to do. Find a dame with a c**p job! :P

Can't imagine there is any truth to that article as there are too many false statements in it that Rob has given the complete opposite view on in the blog only a number of days ago, such as him loving LA, enjoying his personal life, not going on tour for ages, and taking 08 off. Typical Sunday papers c**p me thinks.

Alex Turner's Robbie strut

Jan 20, 2008

Alex Turner pretends to be Robbie Williams in the recording studio.

The Arctic Monkeys frontman, who collaborated with The Rascals frontman Miles Kane on a solo album, has revealed the pair enjoyed imagining they were Robbie and his former song-writing partner Guy Chambers when they worked together.

Mike said: "He struts around the room and I sit down with the pad. We say we're Guy and Robbie. We take it in turns to be Robbie."

Alex, 22, added: "We said that to take the p**s but there were bits where one of us would be dead excited about something and the other would just go, 'Yeah, alright.' You imagine that's what they'd be like, Robbie doing kick-ups or something and getting excited."

The pair recorded their new album - due out in April - along with producer James Ford in a remote studio in northern France last August and admit they went a little crazy.

Alex said: "There were loads of little cakes in the studio so we ate a lot of cake.

"We rode our bikes one afternoon for about a mile and properly freaked out. It was like a 'Carry On' film."

Mike added: "We had our tops off as well, and shorts! Shorts, tops off, full of cake and lots of red wine too."

Chaz Jankel speaks after LA sessions with star

NME

http://static.nme.com/images/84_RobbieWilliams_L250107.jpg

Robbie Williams is busy writing new material with Blockheads star Chaz Jankel - and Ian Dury's old pal insists the singer is on "top form".

Williams contacted Jankel, the co-writer of hits such as 'Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick' and 'Reasons To Be Cheerful Part 3' with Dury, in a bid to boost his own hit-making potential.

Although it was announced recently that Williams was \"on strike\" from label EMI, he is a big fan of the new wave band - and became friendly with Dury just before his death in 2000 - so decided to invite Jankel to Los Angeles for a "some intensive writing sessions".

"Working with Robbie is great - it's extraordinary being part of this songwriting team," Jankel told NME.COM from Los Angeles. "Kelvin and Danny of Sound 5 are bringing a very sharp yet witty contribution to the affair."

Jankel added: "Robbie is on top form and the atmosphere is totally conducive to writing great music."

The Blockheads, who are currently celebrating their 30th anniversary and are still touring (often with the

Blockhead megafan, comedian Phill Jupitus taking over vocals), are reassuring fans that they are not losing a member of

the band to Williams' clutches.

"We are thrilled for Chaz," explained keyboardist Mickey Gallagher, "This is something Robbie should have done a

long time ago!"

Williams is cagey about when his new work with Jankel will be released, although the The Blockheads are set to release a new

anniversary album in April.

Nice frock. My granny had curtains just like it. :smoke:

This is very funny  Smart by name, but CERTAINLY not by nature

Naturally, Gordon Smart is forced to the edges of his own section by the Britney story, which is left in the safer hands of US editor Emily Smith. At least in the paper, his marginalia is allowed the main stage. He's leading with a story about how great the new Robbie Williams stuff is.

Yes, like his boss and previous incumbent of the space, Victoria Newton, swore that Rudebox was brilliant.

Gordon, though, fails to live up to his surname:

I THOUGHT that ROBBIE WILLIAMS was supposed to be on strike?

Well, yes, but obviously he's got to talk up the stuff he's doing now - it's hardly going to bother EMI if Williams says he's withholding without anything to withhold.

Indeed, Smart seems to be part of Williams' negotiations with EMI, offering Robbie a chance to show his label bosses - supposedly - what he's missing. Smart struggles to decide if Williams is a clapped-out figure of fun, or a musical genius.

He's a figure of fun:

Rotund Robster

He's a musical genius:

it's a Reason To Be Cheerful for Rob

He's terrible:

I'm not quite sure how you are supposed to know Robbie is on strike. He’s sat on his backside for most of the past year anyway.

He's wonderful:

And singing funky pop numbers is what Robbie does best.

He's rotten:

Apart from eating muffins and drinking coffee, of course.

Gordon's inability to decide if Robbie is a fat, washed-up, lazy nobody or Britain's leading musical talent seems to have been stirred up by Williams working with Chas Jankel. Smart seems unable to **** off Williams while he's working with a Blockhead, but at the same time is afraid to praise Williams new stuff in case it turns out to be as embarrassing as Rudebox is if and when it gets a release. Newton's creeping round Williams might have been pathetic, but at least she managed to retain a consistent approach across the length of a sentence.

We're not entirely convinced Smart has much more of a vague idea of who Chaz Jankel is, either:

Jankel was credited for the funk influences in Ian Dury And The Blockheads, who had a hit with the brilliant Reasons to be Cheerful, Part 3.

- which is accurate, but on a par with "The Beatles had a hit with a song called Love Me Do".

Robbie Williams befriends David Icke, shares wild theories

BANG Showbiz

Jan. 24, 2008 10:11 AM

Robbie Williams has become good friends with a man who once claimed he was the son of God.

The 'Angels' singer has befriended former soccer star David Icke, who believes reptiles secretly rule the world, and the pair have enjoyed many nights out in Los Angeles.

A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper, "David happened to be in a restaurant at the same time as Robbie. Rob recognized him and introduced himself.

"They had a good laugh together and have been meeting up since. It's an odd acquaintance, to say the least."

Williams and Icke are said to have bonded over their shared obsession with aliens. Icke is currently in California to promote his theories.

Williams in 2006 chose a UFO theme for his 'Close Encounters Tour', admits he often dreams of being abducted by extra-terrestrials. Icke believes world leaders, including George Bush, Tony Blair and Britain's Queen Elizabeth are disguised alien reptiles from the star constellation Draco.

When Icke appeared on a British TV chat show in the early 90s, he was ridiculed for claiming he was the "son of God" and predicting Britain would be devastated by tidal waves and earthquakes.

He later said he was misinterpreted. "I used the term 'son of God' in the sense of being an aspect, as I understood it at the time, of the infinite consciousness that is everything," Icke said. "As I have written before, we are like droplets of water in an ocean of infinite consciousness."
