Posted January 5, 200817 yr Remember this band from the late 80's?, they were tipped to be the next big thing way back in the day, with A&M pumping loads of cash into them, but never were sucsessful apart from this single. A feature in Q magazine described their sound as "Money going down a drain". This is their only top 75 from January 1987, which was "Beautiful Imbalance" reaching #50, chart run from Polyhex was 56-{50}-53->3 k6FRBTUP7ts Edited January 5, 200817 yr by Marcus
January 5, 200817 yr A great band.... wasn't there another called Fabulous Beast or something? I remember getting free tix to see them in the late 80s - excellent they were if my memory serves me well.
January 6, 200817 yr I think being liked by Margaret Thatcher in a video vote on Saturday Superstore (?) put paid to their chances. I liked them and had a couple of their 12" records, which I got in bargain bins after that Maggie debacle.

The big Balearic club hit Thrashing Doves had was "Jesus On The Payroll (Street Groove)". This was a promo remix that wasn't made commercially available (big mistake on the part of the record company). The version you see on the regular release was not the club version. Bizarrely a couple of Balearic DJs also picked up on their live version of "Sympathy For The Devil", which was a B-side on one of their 12" singles. Edited January 8, 200817 yr by 45cat
January 8, 200817 yr Author I think being liked by Margaret Thatcher in a video vote on Saturday Superstore (?) put paid to their chances. I liked them and had a couple of their 12" records, which I got in bargain bins after that Maggie debacle. They had a couple of singles out before then, with one of them being "Matchstick Fotilla", but Mrs Thatcher's 4/5 for the video I posted didn't help!.
