The singles in 1992... w/k ending 10th Jan 92 01 THESE ARE THE DAYS OF OUR LOVES/BOHEMION RHAPSODY - QUEEN 02 JUSTIFIED AND ANCIENT - KLF/TAMMY WYNETTE 03 WHEN YOU TELL ME THAT YOU LOVE ME - DIANA ROSS 04 DON`T TALK JUST KISS - RIGHT SAID FRED/JOCELYN BROWN 05 ADDAMS GROOVE - HAMMER 06 LIVE AND LET DIE - GUNS N` ROSES 07 DON`T LET THE SUN GO DOWN ON ME - ELTON JOHN/GEORGE MICHAEL 08 TOO BLIND TO SEE IT - KYM SIMS 09 ROOBARB AND CUSTARD - SHAFT 10 DRIVEN BY YOU - BRIAN MAY 11 JOSEPH MEGAMIX - JASON DONOVAN 12 STARS - SIMPLY RED 13 BARE NECESSITIES MEGAMIX - UK MIXMASTERS 14 BLACK OR WHITE - MICHAEL JACKSON 15 MARTIKA`S KITCHEN - MARTIKA 16 ALL WOMAN - LISA STANSFIELD 17 RIDE LIKE THE WIND - EAST SIDE BEAT 18 EVERYBODY MOVE - CATHY DENNIS 19 COMPLETE DOMINATOR - HUMAN RESOURCE 20 RUNNING OUT OF TIME - DIGITAL ORGASM 21 ROCKET MAN - KATE BUSH 22 GOODNIGHT GIRL - WET WET WET 23 WE SHOULD BE TOGETHER - CLIFF RICHARD 24 YOU SHOWED ME - SALT N` PEPA 25 AM I RIGHT - ERASURE 26 MYSTERIOUS WAYS - U2 27 WAS IT WORTH IT - PET SHOP BOYS 28 SMELLS LIKE TEEN SPIRIT - NIRVANA 29 SEVEN O` CLOCK/SILENT NIGHT - SIMON AND GARFUNKEL 30 WE GOT A LOVE THANG - CE CE PENISTON Independant radio still strongly taking the mrib chart in 1992, which showed with both U2, and Michael Jacson...BLACK OR WHITE, was in a remix battle with the original in Jan 92, Gallup listed them separately, but mrib listed both together...well it was the same song, and artist! With lots of dance, indie and other rock around, GUNS N` ROSES going WINGS with the 73 Bond theme, MC HAMMER lost his MC, for the theme to the ADAMMS FAMILY, the big film there of. SIMPLY RED heading back up, with the help of the album. EAST SIDE BEAT not getting much play on Independant radio, and a song that I could not find on YOU TUBE, the reworking of the CHRISTOPHER CROSS 1980 minor uk hit. CLIFF RICHARD was on the way out with the Christmas hit WE SHOULD BE TOGETHER (AT XMAS), but the quickie follow up THIS NEW YEAR stalled at 33....My favourite track by MOTLEY CRUE stalled at 38, HOME SWEET HOME (sounding like GUNS N` ROSES)!! Actually most of the best records, were outside the top 30, RUBBISH by CARTER USM, MAGIC`S BACK - MALCOM MCCLAREN, and OLD RED EYES IS BACK with the BEAUTIFUL SOUTH. The idea of the WEDDING PRESENT having 12 hits in a year went well, when they released a record every month, for the whole of 1992, starting with the release of BLUE EYES, on the 6th Jan 92. I certainly would not have predicted, that WET WET WET were on their way to have a number one single, with GOODNIGHT GIRL. It was a slowish, climb to the top, for them. Let`s check on this weeks films... 10 MR MAGORIUMS WONDER EMPORIUM 09 PS I LOVE YOU 08 KITE RUNNER 07 BALLS OF FURY 06 BEE HOME 05 ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS 04 ST TRINIANS 03 EHCHANTED 02 GOLDEN COMPASS 01 I AM A LEGEND The top off-line dvd rentals... 10 28 WEEKS LATER 09 ZODIAC 08 THE DEPARTED 07 SIMPSONS MOVIE 06 300 05 SHREK THE THIRD 04 TRANSFORMERS 03 PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN-WORLDS END 02 DIE HARD 4.0 01 BOURNE ULTIMATUM Here is the top 20 singles... 20 SOME KINDA RUSH - BOOTY LUV 19 RELAX TAKE IT EASY/LOLLIPOP - MIKA 18 ELVIS AIN`T DEAD - SCOUTING FOR GIRLS 17 CHANGE - SUGABABES 16 WHAT HURTS THE MOST/LAST CHRISTMAS - CASCADA 15 NOW YOUR`E GONE - BASSHUNTER 14 UMBRELLA - RIHANNA/JAY Z. 13 ABOUT YOU NOW - SUGABABES 12 HEARTBROKEN - T2/JODIE AYSHA 11 NO ONE - ALICIA KEYS 10 DON`T STOP THE MUSIC - RIHANNA 09 ROCKSTAR - NICKELBACK 08 GOODBYE MR A - HOOSIERS 07 CALL THE SHOTS - GIRLS ALOUD 06 VALERIE - RONSON/WINEHOUSE 05 APOLOGISE - ONE REPUBLIC/TIMBALAND 04 CRANK THAT - SOULJA BOY 03 RULE THE WORLD - TAKE THAT 02 BLEEDING LOVE - LEONA LEWIS 01 WHEN YOU BELIEVE - LEON JACKSON The Physical top 10 singles sales... 01 WHEN YOU BELIEVE - LEON JACKSON 02 WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD - KATIE MELUA 03 CRANK THAT - SOULJA BOY 04 BLEEDING LOVE - LEONA LEWIS 05 CHANGE - SUGABABES 06 RULE THE WORLD - TAKE THAT 07 CALL THE SHOTS - GIRLS ALOUD 08 HEARTBROKEN - T2/JODIE AYSHA 09 SOME KINDA RUSH - BOOTY LOVE 10 APOLOGISE - TIMBALAND A much better top 10 there, and no joke! January 5, 200817 yr Bring back the physical chart immediately then :) Scouting for Girls and Booty Luv should be up there!
January 5, 200817 yr Author Bring back the physical chart immediately then :) Scouting for Girls and Booty Luv should be up there! Yeah, it`s a shame. It might be a good idea, if Supermarket etc, start stocking all single releases again...taking note of Tesco`s own success, with Katie Melua. Katie, is still hanging in Tesco`s top 10. Had it been more available, it would still be in the national top 20, for sure.
January 5, 200817 yr Author Martika's Kitchen  God I love that track It`s a good one, and it even popped up, on a Sky music channel, last week! Quite a lot of females in that 92, chart, Mikey...

Has she any outside of the 20?
January 5, 200817 yr Author The physical chart doesn`t seem to like Rihanna, does it? Has she any outside of the 20? Hate that I Love You, is the only physical that is still about the top 40. I would think trying to find a physical version of Umbrella, might be difficult. I have not seen it in any shop, this side of last October! The amount of downloads, would out shine, physicals even more, at the bottom end of the combined Physical/downloads chart. If you took a purely physical top 75...the amount of copies the number 75 sold, would be just a handful of copies! Edited January 5, 200817 yr by trevs
