The troubled superstar was in hiding with ADNAN GHALIB and THREE of his fellow photographers after fleeing the hospital she was taken to on Friday strapped to a stretcher. Britney, 26 — who ripped an IV drip from her arm and refused further treatment — bizarrely told loved ones the paparazzi are now the only people she trusts. She said of new love Ghalib, whose Brummie dad used to run a clothing business: “He’s my only friend in the world.” Last night she was holed up with her “chums” in a rented Hollywood mansion. Family and friends begged Britney — whose latest single Piece Of Me went up from 46 to 19 in yesterday’s UK chart — to seek medical help amid renewed fears for her mental state. A source close to a long-time pal said: “Britney is on the edge. It’s worrying — and ironic — that the only person she feels she can turn to is a paparazzo. “It’s like the lamb going to stay with the wolfpack. Britney knows Adnan because he has followed her relentlessly for months. “Her family are astonished a photographer is the person Britney turns to when she needs to step out of the media storm. She seems to think he’s her only friend in the world. “They fear she has lost her grip on reality so much that she feels her only friends are the paparazzi.” Britney’s dad Jamie was said to be “frantic with worry”. On Friday, a berserk Britney was at the centre of a three-hour stand-off with cops after her children SEAN PRESTON, two, and JAYDEN JAMES, one, spent New Year at her Los Angeles mansion. She refused to hand them back to estranged husband KEVIN FEDERLINE, 29, and was so hysterical she had to be bound to a stretcher. The Sun revealed she had become hooked on a lethal cocktail of drugs — including one designed to make racehorses leaner. Hours later the star checked out of a psychiatric ward at LA’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after another tantrum. She told staff she was off to another clinic — but joined Ghalib, 35. Britney took a shine to him in December. He was with the star and her kids over the New Year — but left before her meltdown. In an interview on US telly, Ghalib, who is married but separated, told how he had made a mint out of Britney — declaring: “Maybe the only friends she’s going to have that treat her with the respect she deserves are going to be the photographers that work her 24 hours a day.” Britney has shunned help from her family. Hours after the star was taken to hospital, distraught mum LYNNE sought refuge in a cemetery. January 8, 200817 yr according to x17: "Mr. Pap was bragging to our photogs about his romantic getaway with Brit, telling us he would be out of town with her until Wed. Then, Brit returned home today unexpectedly, and Adnan is nowhere in sight! Sources are telling us it may be that Britney became worried about Adnan setting up photo ops and profiting from his relationship with her." hopefully this is over before it's begun...
