January 11, 200817 yr Lets just stop this whole Sugas V GA thing. It's really boring now! GA have had more top 10's Sugas have had more number 1's and bigger albums They are all friends- just leave it at that. They both have their place in the charts.
January 11, 200817 yr Girls Aloud need to stay together for as long as possible, if only for their own sakes. Hopefully soon they get payed properly. But what can they expect, its not like they have any artistical input into their albums. Bar singing and promoting of course. I dont see them splitting at all and if they do they will sharp get back together :P Its very annoying, yes they hold the record for the most consecutive top ten singles for a Girl Group. But the deluded fans take this as meaning their the most successful. When clearly they arent anywhere near... Edited January 11, 200817 yr by Ryan
January 11, 200817 yr I don't think that quoting the sugababes as a good example of strong band is a very good idea considering they had to replace one member two times, while it's only a 3-member formation. Oh dear. :( I don't want this argument again but it's clear the only case you can make against the Babes is this tired old line-up thing. What's clear to everybody is Amelle has been accepted into the group in a way nobody could have thought possible, whilst Heidi may as well have always been there given how loved she is by the fans; she brought the spark that made Sugababes 'version 2' a hit.
January 11, 200817 yr I really do wish everyone would stop with this little war, its getting really pathetic now. they are both successful girl bands, lets just leave it at that they are both good at what they do, they both sell loads, they both acheive high chart positions, they are both great... ANYWAY, back on topic!! I dont think that this has ruined their run on top ten singles.. because it is not a single LOL :P
January 11, 200817 yr I dont think that this has ruined their run on top ten singles.. because it is not a single LOL :P Which leads to another question.....what exactly IS a single?? As i said in another thread, isn't a single just a "single" track.....therefore download surely would count???

Hi shindymindy, I appreciate your point but I thought we were aloud to express our thoughts on the chart on this site! :)
January 11, 200817 yr You are allowed to have your opinion, but don't try and force it down our throats at every single opportubity to make one group look better. I could always state that Sugas are way better in my opinion than GA, but i don't, because GA do their thing well too! there is a market for the both groups.

Hi shindymindy, I haven't tried to force any views down anyone's throat! I was only trying to answer a querie regarding Girls Aloud!
January 11, 200817 yr Im curious about something. GA fans are not sure if this will be counted against them in the Guinees Book, becuase they havnt made a video, not being promoted by them etc. My questoin is, what if this went on to be a huge number 1 hit. Would they then be expecting the same thing, for it not be marked as one of their singles. Is it only becuase its not doing well so far that they want it discarded. Im jut curious.
January 11, 200817 yr Bananarama have released something like 30 singles The UK's most charted girl group too. That's using top 75 as a rule.

And if it is going to go against their top 10 run and they dont want it to then just take it off i-tunes etc (obv bit late now). Personally I think it will go against them. Look at kylie songs like "Guess I like it like that". Didnt have a video. Wasnt promoted by her but is still under her name in the Guiness book. So to make it fair I think GA should be too.
January 11, 200817 yr Bananarama have released something like 30 singles but pedanticly does being a duo count as being a group??
January 12, 200817 yr but pedanticly does being a duo count as being a group?? I think a duo is known as a group in the music term just cos its more than 1 person. I could be wrong though. But if you look at H and Claire in the Guiness Book it says they are a group. I was wondering though, do Girls Aloud qualify for the most singles by a girl band with the original line-up?

January 12, 200817 yr Is it only becuase its not doing well so far that they want it discarded. Im jut curious. I'd say the single has done amazingly considering the girls have never performed it live (gig and tv wise) and havent promoted it!
January 12, 200817 yr I'd say the single has done amazingly considering the girls have never performed it live (gig and tv wise) and havent promoted it! Exactly, could people quote any other songs only available from soundtrack album to make so well this year? (except the Simpsons pig anthem haha) A shame they put it off itunes :( Edited January 12, 200817 yr by Xmas Bertie
January 12, 200817 yr This debate is hilarious  Right!... A single is a song which is released physically on a CD or a download which is from an EP not an LP! And like I said already, their record is '17 consecutive top 10 singles', not '17 consecutive songs that charted in the top 10' Also, this happened with The Beatles ;) they had 22 consecutive top 10's then an unreleased song charted and they just put a star with the article saying it did chart but it wasn't released by the band, so we'll probably get.. Girls Aloud - 17 consecutive top 10 singles * *St Trinians Theme charted on downloads alone however it was not released by the band and so does not count as a single. So basically they're free to have their 18th, 19th etc. etc. consecutive top 10 singles now And the Sugas vs GA debate -_- Lets clear this up.... Sugas are FAR more successful than GA, they sell bucketloads of albums, have had 6 no.1's and also do well in other countries apart from the UK. GA have had more consecutive Top 10's, Yes! but no one is saying that makes them more successful than the Sugas, because it clearly doesn't! I prefer GA to Sugas, love them both but GA  but I know that Sugas p*** all over them when it comes to record sales. But! there is room for both bands in the charts, which is shown- they both do very well! Sugas sell better with albums and GA sell better with tours :P They both win ^_^
January 12, 200817 yr I still think its going to go against Girls Aloud. It appeared in the top 75 simple as that. Doesnt matter if its a download only single or not. It appeared in the top 75 so it will appear in the Guiness book under their name

It just won't break their record and will appear in the book with a star next to it, that's all :P
