I watched a bit of this after pop on trial last night - to see what it was like - sorry to say could only manage about 20 minutes of it as the noize was mostly unbareable  - think i'll have to keep to the easy-listening-normality that are the sounds of the great rock and roll swindle from now on

has anybody else watched this / managed to sit thru all of it???

I think Eighth Wonder's 'I'm Not Scared' was one of the nest pop singles of the 80s.... great track. And Hallo Spaceboy was great, too - even if Bowie wore stiletto boots on TOTP whilst performing it... plus, PSB's 'Ab Fab' wasn't half bad... some great remixes.

Absolute Beginners? Hmm... great song, cripplingly average film.

And Great Rock'n'Roll Swindle wasn't much cop, either - yet another tiresome McLaren ego-w***. In this months' Mojo there's a great Adam Ant interview where the whole story of his sacking from his own band is told..... McLaren behaved typically disgracefully throughout.

'the filth and the fury' was MUCH better.

was thinking of putting that into the equasion but i thought it might be too modern as a techincally of it coming out only a few years ago??

I read that.

Adam Ant is quite bizarre for a pop act (or a post-glam glam pop act maybe??*) as that cross over from (Adam and the Antz/Sex Pistols/Banshees) punk groupings to Adam Ant pop sensibilty means that some of his/their songs sound less part of the pop hemisphere and more in an alternative-indie music vibe - and much less pop than Bjork or Vampire Weekend or even Talking Heads (esp Naked) - esp in Kings Of The Wild Frontier, Dog Eat Dog and the Naughty North Sexy South one (tho I dont if this has anything to do with E-motion)

(**that obv selling out to pop that acts could be critised for but not reflected much these days esp in thinking about Take That / Snow Patrol / a-ha / Coldplay Adult Contemporary areas)

(*thankfully Gary Glitter was not his dad - if was his dad the bipolar thing would probs be even worse)
