Posted January 12, 200817 yr The only song in Greek in the Cypriot national final gets the gold ticket to Belgrade. After five consecutive attempts in English and one in French, tonight the Cypriot public decided to send a song in Greek to Belgrade. Evdokia Kadi has won tonight's final and will represent Cyprus in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest. Ballads and songs in English prevailed in the Cyrpiot final tonight. Evdokia Kadi was the third favourite of the nine member jury but she won the televote by a landslide receiving over two thousand votes more than the second song I can't be by Nikolas Metaxas . Her title may be in French but the song is a typically Greek "laiko" song. Evdokia is an experienced singer who performs in night clubs as well as with the CyBC orchestra. This is the full result of the Cypriot final: Femme Fatale - Evdokia Kadi 104 points I can't be - Nikolas Metaxas 100 points Rejection (Set me free) - Marlain Angelidou 84 points Turning to you - Myria Pambori and Alexis Manison 56 points This can't be love - Sofia Strati 54 points Nikolas Metaxas- Butterfly 54 points Moments of madness - Eleni Skarpari 34 points Calling you - Constantinos Andronikou 34 points Rescue me - Mirto Meletiou 32 points Sugar Mountain - Elizabeth 28 points From ESC Today.
January 13, 200817 yr I don't like it :( :( I'd read elsewhere that the song will be re-worked/arranged/mixed, but even that won't help. Cyprus will probably end up with no more than 12 points this year, and we know where those would come from.
January 13, 200817 yr It won't get 12 points from Greece, considering they're in seperate semi-finals most likely. I have to say it's not my favourite, but it will stand out, it's different it will have a unique performance, and people like that traditional Greek feel. I'd say it's a qualifier.
January 18, 200817 yr It's okay ... the beginning is dull, and I'm not sure the up-tempo part is good enough to make that okay. Not loving it.
January 18, 200817 yr Author Oh I quite like this now. :heehee: It has a strange charm to it. I'm preferring Albania's and Andorra's efforts though so far!
February 25, 200817 yr Quite liking this one, really gets going. Hope it scores many points but doubt it will.
