April 14, 200817 yr Katharine McPhee doesn't have a record deal what so ever at the moment at least to my knowledge. I certainlly don't think Kelly will suffer the same fate, but I don't think she will have fantastic first week sales without a hugely popular first single.
April 15, 200817 yr Agree. She'll need a very catchy 1st single next. SUBG was perfect, so was NA imo but it needs to be more poppy
April 15, 200817 yr Yeah Never Again was a good track, but it just wasn't right for the current top40 market. If you look at what type of songs are doing well at the moment [although I expect it to change by time Kelly is ready to release her first single] its songs that are slightly RnB influenced [Mariah, Usher, Leona, Jordin Sparks in the USA, and Estelle, Madonna, Duffy [Although Mercy isnt so much RnB more an obvious beat]]
April 19, 200817 yr I don't know what to think. I'm hoping its more of an acoustic album, like the demo's.
April 24, 200817 yr Author I think ive posted this before, but some of her songs from her previous album is a link to the next album. e.g.: Miss Independant (Gave Kelly a more Pop/Rock feel)------->Breakaway (the album was pure pop rock) Addicted/Hear Me (Gave Kelly a more Rocky feel)---------->My December (Rock anyone?) I think in terms of the MD era linking to the next era, im thinking that she will probs have a more Alt. Rock feel. More OneRepublic-y
April 24, 200817 yr I definately see the prediction of a OneR kind of album, I think this is also linked with Kelly writing with Ryan Tedder, frontman of OneR. However, your thesis on album movement, I would say MI is far more RnB orientated than possibly anything on Thankful, and that Breakaway kind of came out of nowhere. I expected a MD type of album, but Breakaway was more of a shock coming from Thankful.
April 24, 200817 yr Author i always found MI to be quite pop/rock-y. But i guess thats just me lol. I really want her to work with Ben Moody again. The work she done with him on Breakaway was
April 30, 200817 yr Yeah the work she did with Ben Moody was fantastic, and I'd also like to see some future collab's with him...
