January 19, 200817 yr I have to say that there hasn't been anything I've disliked that we've sent this decade (apart from the rap in 2001 :puke:), but it has been hugely unrealistic to have expected us to do well with anything we've sent since 2003! -_-
January 19, 200817 yr You're right...at least Scooch and Daz got top 10 hits from their exposure...I hope whoever enters this year can go top 10 too...Scooch were a physical No.1 but definitely went top 20 on downloads too...
January 20, 200817 yr The latest rumour is that runners up from the "Joseph" and "Maria" competitions will be competing for the crown, with Andrew Lloyd-Webber and Gary Barlow being asked to write songs. If this is true, then I would be very satisfied, as it would seem it's about as serious as we could expect the BBC to get about the Contest. They clearly want a quality song, with a talented singer.

I agree. Whilst they may not be well known, with writing credits to those two at least we'd have a decent song! Javine and her song were bloody PERFECT for Eurovision! Nahh. Right type of song, but it was a bit bland a year too late. :( And totally overshadowed by the superior 'My Number One' and also on very near the start. She was never gonna do very wll unfortunately.
January 20, 200817 yr Javine and her song were bloody PERFECT for Eurovision! Yes...if she'd sent it the year before :( As things were, a few factors went against her: A - Everyone sent an up-tempo ethnically influenced song that year, so Javine just blended in B - Javine performed from the cursed 2nd placed position, pretty much one that nobody will remember you from C - The performance was nothing special D - The song was more Turkish-influenced than Balkan-influenced, so it should come as no surprise that we didn't get the coveted Balkan vote - we did however get a few off Turkey ^_^

February 6, 200817 yr In fairness I loved Javine's and I genuinley thought we might stand a chance, the reason I was saying we probably won't win as I think theres been some 'good' songs that have just done c**p because UK don't have friends lmao, I also liked Jemini

The person who represented them in 1998 - who also failed to score (unfairly, imo) - said that it was because they've got no friends. In 2005, Switzerland got 128pts and finished 8th. So there's hope for us all. (Before anything is said, I know they were represented by an Estonian act - I doubt they got their points simply from Estonia's friends.)
