Posted January 15, 200817 yr And record-breaking X-Factor superstar Leona Lewis will be releasing the official Sport Relief single. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tv_and_rad...ief/7187853.stm Wonder what song it will be!
January 15, 200817 yr I think "Whatever It Takes" would fit best for Sports Relief. It was also the highest charting from album downloads so it seems like the most logical to release to me.
January 15, 200817 yr Well it'll be much better than the Sports Relief single last year whatever it is! :heehee
January 15, 200817 yr I don't think it has to "fit" though. In 2004 Rachel Stevens did 'Some Girls' which wasn't anything to do with sports or anything really related, unless I'm missing some connection... Whatever It Takes would still be a good choice though I guess.

January 15, 200817 yr Thrilled about this! Leona doesn't really need any help to sell hugely but I think this single being for charity will help her secure her third #1. :D You never know she may release Whatever It Takes (which I agree is most fitting) or she may even record a new song... which i'm sure would please us all. :D Either way i'm chuffed because it'll shift EVEN MORE copies of the album and undoubtedly gain her at least another Top3, if not a #1.

Love your optimism! I agree wholeheartedly, can't wait until they announce what it will be, I think it'll be an album track with "Run" as the B-side on the single. :D

January 16, 200817 yr If a studio version of Run was on the B-Side I would physically die. It's actually one of my favourite songs by Leona despite it being a cover. I adore it.

I think "Run" would be a good B-side if not a double A-side, if only because they do a run for Sports Relief and the song is good enough be the actual single but another cover might look a bit tacky.
January 16, 200817 yr The last minute or so of Run is just WOW. Absolutely blew me away and sent chills down my spine.

January 19, 200817 yr I bet it is 'Run' and I hope it is too because I want the songs to be released off her album to have success on their own and not off the back of a charity single. I know that she has a handful of big hits on Spirit and it would be a shame is one of them was wasted on a charity single...how bitter does that make me sound! I don't mean wasted because it's for a good cause but I mean wasted as it could have major success on it's own lol
January 19, 200817 yr Neither was "Please Please" by McFly.'Dont Stop Me Now' the b-side to it was though. Im not sure about this, i just think the management are being too desperate with her. The first single did well off the show, the second off 'the wait is finally over' hype and the third will be off Sports Relief. I just dont know where she's going to go/what she's going to do after.

BL did well because it's a fantastic song, nothing to do with "the wait is finally over", why would people buy a song just because of how long it took to make?
January 19, 200817 yr BL did well because it's a fantastic song, nothing to do with "the wait is finally over", why would people buy a song just because of how long it took to make? Great post! I wish people would actually see sense and realise that HYPE does NOT a successful song make. Look at 'Gimme More', the hype, the wait etc. and it did well, but did it get a sniff at #1? It did not. Look at '2 Hearts', the hype, the wait etc. Did THAT get a sniff at #1? Again, nowhere near. People (not particularly the people in the forum, this post is more directed at the haterz) need to realise that's it's extremely difficult nowadays to sell a song to the public if they don't like it. 'Bleeding Love' sold because it's fantastic, not because there was any wait or hype at all. I do tend to agree with Coolnav though, it'd be good for her to release a single with normal promotion and do brilliantly.

Exactly, it's not like Shayne Ward has done as good as Leona after his break away, although he has done better than I expected. She'll be in the US when the next single is released so won't be able to do much promo so that's why I think Sports Relief is a good idea. For the single after, hopefully she'll be able to be here and do regular promo. :)
