Posted January 15, 200817 yr Did anyone see the alan titchmark show this afternoon. duncan james was on singing all I want his love done exactly as D did with the girls and the feathers. He very good but theatrical in that his accent i felt was overdone and i felt he was miming. However he came back for an interview and alan treated him like he was a huge star. They showed exerts from the various billy flynns and roxies from previous productions but yet again D was leFt out.Duncan said he has so much in the pipeline including a show he is doing for SKY and another show for channel 4 plus the producers of chicago were pleased with him so were negotiating for him to do Broadway.they then had him back again to give comments on the dancing on ice participants and he gave good comments for GG. he said he would never want to go back to blue, it was all too much hardwork and alan said do you feel you have grown out of that time and he agreed. It would be nice if D had some shows in the pipeline..
January 15, 200817 yr I'll agree with that. I'll be watching him on channel 4 though. I really liked Blue. I just don't think Billy Flynn reallt suits him.
January 15, 200817 yr I saw the end of an Alan Titchmarch show but the guest was a woman. They were talking about aphrodisiac food. Was that the same show? I was on the Sky channel so I don't really know which channelwas on at the time.
January 16, 200817 yr I missed it, just as well, I hate it when I think Darius has been sidelined as usual,
January 16, 200817 yr But Duncan IS in 'Chicago' at the moment - it should have been him. I hope I like some of the things he said he'd be doing more than I liked this. It'd be a waste if not.
January 17, 200817 yr I think Duncan is in Chicago at the Cambridge until 27th January but he may extend his run.
January 17, 200817 yr He said he only had a few weeks left in 'Chicago', but, as you said, it could be extended. I wouldn't go but then, if Darius did something that made me cringe, I wouldn't go to that either.
January 18, 200817 yr I've just watched DJ on youtube. He sang OK but for me the performance was lacking in any passion/charisma. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPK_3WcJc_A
January 18, 200817 yr  not sure about that, it was odd coz I kept going to darius in my mind, I thought DJ kept losing the power and accent in that, he doesnt look above 15yrs old either, but it wasnt as bad as I thught it would be, wouldnt say he looked beleivable though. when I meant sidelined I meant that Darius is never mentioned when they are looking back at things, even though others are mentioned.
January 18, 200817 yr Preston says they showed events and previous Billys and Roxies. I'm pretty sure none of the shows Darius was in were videoed officially for online ads etc for publicity. I don't think it's a case of sidelining Darius , more the TV companies requesting a clip from the library and getting the first ones which come to hand. The clips I've seen over and over on BBC and ITV alike have been those of Francess Ruffelle, Ruthie Henshall, Henry Goodman etc ie the original cast or Matthew Goodgame etc from the Musicality series. I don't suppose there was a clip of Marti Pellow and he was Billy Flynn on and off for over 2 years all over the world, and he was said to have been excellent in the role.
January 19, 200817 yr I suppose that si true, he isnt alone - Marti was Billy for a good long while, just I am biased I suppose
January 19, 200817 yr Author well here we go he gets a mention. From a post on WOS concerning reality casting - Not a big fan of celeb casting in some cases (and again 'celeb' covers a multitude of sins!) - Ashlee Simpson?? But then they suprise you (saw Jennifer Ellison and Darius what's-his-name in the anniversary Chicago and though they were both great although Kelly Osborne....hmmmm) They are generally very snobby on that site about reality casting but the joke is that because of the reality casting in shows, the audience numbers this year are up by over 3 million and the newspapers reports say it is putting more bums on seat and making more people go to the theatre so who is right especially wen some theatres are having their grants stopped, the northcott at exeter being one and derby playhuse was another but think they have managed a buyout or something.
January 19, 200817 yr Well, casting Darius got me back to going to the theatre. It worked as I've seen a fair number of shows since 'Chicago'. I want to see 'Les Mis' again. After avoiding it since it opened, I found I loved it.
January 20, 200817 yr ...............and if he wasn't such a giant, Darius would make a fantastic Marius. I've always avoided Les Mis like the plague. I once thought I might like it and bought the CD. I didn't like many of the songs so I decided not to bother. Only the privilege of seeing Darius command a stage again would get me through a theatre show to see that one.

Thanks, Preston. Now wait for the barrage of negative "reviews" of D at the 10th anniversary.
January 20, 200817 yr know what you mean, BT - I am sure some are like circling vultures I am sure Darius would have suprised some at the chicago anniversary -
