One third of the 1,5000 to 2,000 job cuts at EMI will be in the UK, according to reports.

EMI confirmed today that it will cut up to 2,000 jobs as part of a re-structure that it says will enable the group to become “the world’s most innovative, artist friendly and consumer-focused music company”.

EMI Group chairman Guy Hands met with staff this morning to explain his vision for the future of the major, which his private equity firm Terra Firma bought last summer.

Specific details are yet to emerge of where exactly these cuts will come, however, reports say that one third of losses will be among EMI’s UK workforce, while it is understood that EMI Publishing will not be greatly affected.

shouldn't EMI be dropping lazy artists? Artists who simply don't sell anymore? Not the loyal workforce who get paid peanuts and work their arses off promoting, on the whole, rubbish?
