So a fan bumped into her today and got chatting to J for a few minutes. He said that Jamelia does browse the forum frequently, but she doesn't post because there's a lot of things she isn't allowed to talk about with us just yet. I'm guessing she's waiting to finalise a lot of sh*t before she can talk about it. I understand that and it's cool.

 

Ok... Today I decided to go shopping with two friends... and well we were shopping - and as we were leaving a store.. I see a woman walk past who looked INCREDIBLY LIKE jamelia, I wasn't too sure... because she was wearing a cap..and I only saw a glimpse.. So i went back and said hello - and yup you guessed it, it was JAMELIA!!!!

 

We were stood just chatting for a good 10 minutes about love, life and the universe (ok maybe not so vast) but... we chatted.

 

I told her that just today, we were on the forum wondering where she'd gone to and she told me that she does visit the forum, although doesn't post because there's only so much she can say... - I did see J's engagement ring and omg it's HUGEEEEEEEEEEE! The best news is YET to come though!!!!!

 

So yeah Jamelia agrees the way her official site is ran is totally c**p - which is why she's taking her own step to create her OWN website - which she'll maintain/update herself - that means we'll get to talk directly to Jamelia, which'll be good!

 

We spoke briefly about her parting ways with Parlophone and how the WWM album went - which she wasn't down with, and I managed to ask about the upcoming album. She did say she'll start recording the album in the summer... when the kids are off school so she can take them with her to wherever (i think she meant the US). She also hinted that she'll FINALLy get the chance to work with the people she WANTS to work with, but hasn't been able to - which to me suggested major collabS!!!!!!! *wink, wink*

 

Ermm i'm trying to think what else we chatted about... ohh god yeah - Jamelia also told me that she signed a publishing deal a couple weeks ago, and that she is going to release a book! She said it's a book about her life to date, not an autobiography (because she still has her life to live) and that it's what she's working on atm.

 

It was incredible to be able to talk her, she was SOOOOO down to earth, and humble, it was such a lovely encounter. It left me with a HUGEEEE smile on my face and to top it off, I gots a picture (yay)! lol

She says "2008 at the earliest"....Earliest? What a load of trash. Her manager said she was recording last January and they built a cresch for Jamelia...So where are all the songs she did before? Just put into a vault?

The last we heard, she was mulling over offers. I think she's reached a decision by now though ... she has to have done. That may be one of the things she isn't allowed to talk about. Once all the paper work is signed & finished, then she'll/they'll probably announce it.

 

They did plan for 'Thank You' to be released in the US too (I remember several reports saying that Jamelia was going to get Brandy on a track too), but Jamelia fell pregnant with Tiani so those plans caved in. I don't think she's particularly interested in breaking the US though ... Maybe on this next album? B)

I hope she stays away from John Legend he'll ruin her :lol:

I love John Legend's stuff. He's produced some pretty good tracks.

 

Also, I was talking to that board member about what Jamelia said about Parlophone & 'Walk With Me', and he said that Parlophone deliberately screwed up all of Jamelia's singles & tried to mess the era up as much as possible because her 10 year contract was coming to an end and EMI were getting rid of artists anyway, so Jamelia basically left them in the end & that all the talk about her getting dropped is rubbish. She didn't want "Something About You" being released as the first single; she wanted "Beware Of The Dog" to lead the album instead. She also said that she didn't want "No More" released at all and that she'd hoped they would have gone with "Go" as the next single after "Beware Of The Dog".

Throghout Jamelia's career she's had a lot of big name producers wanting to work with her, but the label didn't allow her to work with them and wanted to keep production small. She really wants to work with John Legend and now she left Parlophone, she's free to work with whoever she wants to work with. She'll definetley be going to the US in the Summer and taking her children with her to start recording for the new album. She's very excited because she'll have full creative control.

 

Parlophone suck ass.

But John Legend will ruin her, like Estelle. :( He doesn't promote at all.
