January 21, 200817 yr The KLF are the best! The Shamen are very close to KLF level... N-Trance was quite good (but nothing memorable) HP from Scooter was clearly influenced by KLF (he even used some samples from KLF) Edited January 21, 200817 yr by Alin
January 21, 200817 yr agreed alin i liked the shamen and 'boss drum' was a superb album imho, but klf were the dogs!
January 21, 200817 yr ^ Now about KLF: I heard they recorded another album The Black Room but they never released it. There is a little chance to see this band reunited? (someone said 23 years after 1991?!) PS yeah, "Boss Drum" by The Shamen is amazing and very well produced. "En-Tact" is great too (I don't know about the rest of Shamen's albums).

DA3E2X3kQNQ http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/91/Scooter_-_the_stadium_techno_experience_a.jpg who has Sheffield Dave (H.P. Baxxter) been influenced most by/ ripped off wholesale??? The speaker on the Scooter album cover is a blatant rip of KLF's "White Room" album cover, and KLF were the ones who actually coined the term "Stadium Techno" anyway.... So, I guess if we are to apportion blame.... I'm sure it wasn't Drummond or Cauty's intentions that something like Scooter would turn up though.... They probably find Scooter amusing....
January 21, 200817 yr ...is most to blame / celebrate for actually inventing Scooter!?!?!?! who has Sheffield Dave (H.P. Baxxter) been influenced most by/ ripped off wholesale??? According to him, his main influence was Billy Idol
January 21, 200817 yr According to him, his main influence was Billy Idol :D What about this "strange" coincidence?! Scooter - Behind the Cow g_VZPeDGnyc The KLF - What Time Is Love? 2neb4rFPGCo

So, I guess if we are to apportion blame.... but FasterHarderScooter does sound more 'Shamanic' - and the Shamen are one of those old acts (like also Carter USM) - that were probably cool in indie/alternative/dance circles once a billion years ago - but theres something so cheesy and funny about them - they are kinda rubbish - but thats strangely appealing in a kinda 'one step up from the wonders of Frank Farian' type of way. I'm sure it wasn't Drummond or Cauty's intentions that something like Scooter would turn up though.... They probably find Scooter amusing.... I find Scooter amusing....actually v. v. funny indeed...Back In The Uk - thats a record i couldnt stop giglling to well i found a copy the other night...but then thats German pop(ular) music for you  and billy idol - im gonna be laughing at that ref for the next wk
January 22, 200817 yr Scooter is the best even thou I do also like both The KLF and The Shamen. N-Trance is the worst of the three choices given thou I wouldn't label it as bad otherwise.
January 22, 200817 yr interestingly 'doctorin the tardis' was played at last nights pop music quiz... again i must say i absolutely LOVE that track... it takes the p1ss on so many levels, gotta be the cleverest/funniest track ever ... from the overly camp baseline to the yob dalek...
January 22, 200817 yr Right... I think you'll find it's the Beatmasters who're doing the influencing here. They remixed all the KLF and Shamen singles for chart consumption, the original versions being somewhat more raw and inaccessible. Both the KLF and Shamen came from indie rock stock and moved into the dance arena around the end of the 80's. Scooter are a bunch of idiotic German's who cover completely different songs in their own 'style' and, while they may be fans of the KLF, you cannot blame Drummond and Cauty for them. That said, I'd much rather listen to Scooter than either of their current tour-mates - Cascada and Ultrabeat - worst acts ever if you ask me. 'The Black Room' was an aborted project to further see how far the KLF could subvert their fame after their legendary Brit Awards performance. It includes collaborations with thrash act Extreme Noise Terror and from the demos I have, it helps if you're more of a fan of the latter act. It was not released as the band decided it'd be a greater statement to just quit altogether. 'The White Room' was, in fact, recorded completely in 1989 but ditched and re-recorded to include the Beatmasters produced singles, to remove the flop single 'Kylie Said to Jason' and Bill's spoken word cover of 'Born Free' (both ace) and to split the remaining songs into 'stadium' and 'ambient' sides of the disc.

CLANG!!!!!! just realised then the lyric "respect to the man in the ice cream van" means! i had no idea that scooter were fans of the klf.
January 22, 200817 yr i had no idea that scooter were fans of the klf. Oh that whole song was based around What Time is Love and the antics of the KLF. It's the sense of humour that makes me put Scooter above Cascada and Ultrabeat - but all three are awful. Oh yeah, little known fact this, but the main riff from 'What Time is Love?' was nicked from a song on Jesus Christ Superstar by Andrew Lloyd Webber - proving the KLF weren't afraid to touch anything!

January 22, 200817 yr Almost right...ALL of Fatboy Slim's work involves nicking off little known tracks! Should also point out that I'm sure Scooter's love of the KLF is not reciprocated!
January 22, 200817 yr Should also point out that I'm sure Scooter's love of the KLF is not reciprocated!  Not surprised tbh.... When I said that KLF probably found them "amusing", what I should've said was, that they found Scooter laughable....
