Portishead tour dates

Long awaited tour from Bristol trio

BBC6MUSIC News

20 Jan 2008 - Portishead have announced a series of UK and European dates in the Spring. The band play March dates in Europe and April dates in the UK.

The UK dates kick off at the Manchester Apollo on April 9th, heading to London on the 10th for a night at the Hammersmith Apollo, then on to Edinburgh and Wolverhampton Civic for the weekend of the 12th and 13th.

Tickets for the UK shows will go on sale at the official Portishead website exclusively for 48 hours from Wednesday and then on general sale on Friday.

These highly anticipated shows follow the bands performance at All Tomorrow’s Parties presents The Nightmare Before Christmas in December last year. That was their first performance in ten years, and they also curated the festival.

Portishead also chose to play a post-ATP show in their hometown of Bristol, mid-December.

Portishead will be performing several songs from their new studio album which is slated for release in April 2008.

Are any of you very excited by this news?

Along with comebacks from My Bloody Valentine, The Cure and Jesus and Mary Chain (and I suppose we could include Siouxsie Sioux's recent excellent comeback album too), British music for 2008 seems to be a veritable feast for those of us who want quality to return back to the fore.... Portishead's return to the fray is indeed excellent news, looking forward to that third album.... :cheer:

Finally Portishead band is back! :)

Unfortunatelly I don't think I will see them live ever... :(
