I've been listening to Richard Hawley's music on youtube and I've only recently discovered just how good and rich his voice his, he's up for best male at the Brits this year and I thought, who the hell is he? well now I know and I'm sure quite a few of you will enjoy his voice and music as well, I think he has a Roy Orbison/Morrissey/Elvis Costello quality to his voice, very nostalgic sounding music and lyrics though, I'd love to see him win the Brit for best male and shock everyone.

Have a listen to him anyway.

His latest track is called Valentine and it's out on the 28th of february.

Valentine.

The Ocean.

The Streets Are Ours.

a certain C Hunt co-writes/shapes the songs for Newton like he has done for people like Natalie Imbruglia (on her hits album is where you can see also the names Colin Campsie, Eg White etc etc)

Ahh, I get what you're meaning now, Crispin Hunt wrote Dream Catch Me and he used to be in The Longpigs along with Richard Hawley. :D Newton Faulkner annoys me muchly now with is 'ooh look, I can bang my guitar all cool like' and people who have ginger hair, freckles and dreadlocks, should wear a bonnet at all times unless it's dark.
I really like Richard. I onlt have 'Coles Corner' and it really is fantastic. I'd reccommend it to anyone, especially if you can get it cheap, which you probably can somewhere...

well yeah any opportunity to direct some bile at the ginga slapmeister has to be taken

btw this movie below plays out like a Newton Faulkner - the early years film - not only does it have Robin Williams trying to be some kinda Garth Brooks hobo figure but has loads of slapband awfulness to remind you of the Newt. :puke2: :puke2:

Richard Hawley is fantastic. I think his time in Pulp served him well too, and he was clearly what made me like the Longpigs rather than C.Hunt.
