January 24, 200817 yr Random question :kink: Was Beauty and the Beast nominated for Best Picture, or was that a different awards ceremony? Mhm, it's the only animated film to ever be nominated.
January 24, 200817 yr Mhm, it's the only animated film to ever be nominated. :w00t: It didn't win though :(
January 30, 200817 yr I've just seen Away From Her - and Julie Christie sure does deserve all the acclaim she's been getting for it - it's a fantastic performance.
February 6, 200817 yr Certainly a few surprises there but mostly pretty obvious choices. For foreign language picture it was a bit surprising that the Romanian film 4 Months, 3 weeks and 2 days didn't get nominated even thou it has topped almost every critics list of foreign language pics. And personally I was disappointed that the Spanish film The Orphanage also missed the nomination, it certainly deserved it. But then the pre-selection for the short-list of 9 films of which 5 is chosen is made by volunteer screeners for the academy and therefore the selection process is totally different than in any other category and results in more surprising final nominations than in other categories.
