Posted January 23, 200817 yr I was just randomly thinking about this today. As you do. What songs released in recent years will go down in 'classical' territory? Will any? -_-
January 23, 200817 yr What songs released in recent years will go down in 'classical' territory? Will any? -_- I dont think any will go down in 'classical' territory - as thats getting genres/concepts mixed up between popular music culture/low culture and a more a high art/hign culture area and i guess you want to say "what will be seen as a classic in 50 years time' or like 'westlife's 50 songs that will never die'
January 23, 200817 yr Author Err yeah whatever you want to call it, I just wanted to hear your opinions. :P
January 23, 200817 yr Hard to say as we live in the United Kindom and even tho we are being swamped by that global imperial american culture of 'wow everythings cool' - we still have that rubbishing culture so records could go either way - and people could end up attacking the career or adele in 10 years time and regarding westlife as kings of easy listening (prob ironically, probs not) - as with the guilty-pleasures-pop lot of 2007/08 and no doubt in the future things will be reclassified into pop and other out of pop - or is everything regarded as pop music whatever the sub-genre you are talking bout (like bbc four - "the smiths is the best pop song of the 80s if not of all time" opinion)??? - so its hard to say how things are ghonna turn out.

January 28, 200817 yr Unfinished Sympathy - Massive Attack Or is it going back too far? IMHO Hung Up is only great because it sampled a great Abba song. It's not original. Edited January 28, 200817 yr by munchkin
