Posted January 25, 200817 yr Copy/ Pasted text from site Natasha Henstridge puts 'Species' behind her as she debuts two new TV roles 3 hours ago TORONTO - Natasha Henstridge soared to fame in 1995 as a genetically altered, comely human-alien with a deadly urge to breed with a man in the hit sci-fi thriller film "Species." The blond, blue-eyed model-turned-actress also starred in the sequel, "Species II," and had a cameo in the direct-to-video "Species III." Henstridge wasn't in the fourth instalment, "Species: The Awakening," last year, though. And perhaps not surprisingly, she says she doesn't plan on reprising the role anymore. "I think I'm over it," Henstridge said with a laugh in a recent phone interview from her office in Los Angeles, where she lives with her spouse, Scottish musician and actor Darius Danesh, and her two sons, ages six and nine. "It was an amazing part of my life, time of my life, a great vehicle for me but I think it's been done to death quite frankly." Henstridge, who was born in Springdale, N.L., and raised in Fort McMurray, Alta., has enjoyed much success since the first "Species." Her major film credits include "Dog Park," "The Whole Nine Yards" and "The Whole Ten Yards," while notable TV roles include "The Outer Limits" and the short-lived "Commander in Chief." This month, Henstridge stars in two TV projects - "Would Be Kings," a four-hour Canadian miniseries airing this Sunday and Monday on CTV, and "Eli Stone," a buzzed-about dramedy series debuting next Thursday on CTV and ABC. "Would Be Kings," filmed in Hamilton, Ont., in 2006, stars Currie Graham and Ben Bass as cousins who work on a police drug squad together and are torn apart by corruption within the force. Henstridge plays the depressed and confused wife to Graham's conflicted character. "She's a woman who wants everything in life to be the 2.2 kids, white-picket fence and even though she has a lot of that, it's never going to be enough because ultimately she's not happy within herself," said Henstridge, 33. The story is loosely based on Shakespeare's "King Henry IV, Part 1." Said Henstridge: "It's dark - it's bloody dark, there's no doubt about that." The mood on "Eli Stone" is decidedly more uplifting, she said, as it involves much humour - and singer George Michael. You see, Michael is part of the hallucinations of the title character, an ambitious lawyer played by Jonny Lee Miller of "Trainspotting" fame. Eli's visions are a result of a brain aneurysm but he thinks they're a divine calling. Henstridge plays his fiancee, who is also a cutthroat lawyer, and Canadian Victor Garber plays her dad. Henstridge said Michael was affable on set and even joked around after suffering an embarrassing fall. "He took a little trip once on the stage," said Henstridge, who has a cottage in Triton, N.L. "There was a stage built for one of the scenes and he had a little trip. Everybody else around him ... made such a big deal about him being there and yet he was the most humble of them all which is really funny. We had a good time." January 26, 200817 yr Thanks Megham interesting read. Thats twice recently D has had a mention in foreign press.wonder if her two tv programmes will make it to our tv.
January 26, 200817 yr Author I should think so. I could never get interested in 'Commander in Chief' though
January 27, 200817 yr Author It isn't the first time, I doubt it'll be the last time. I wonder what they'll do to celebrate when Eli goes on TV? Should be quite a party.
January 28, 200817 yr As george michael was involved in eli stone and is one of Ds influences I wonder if D got to meet him on set. if so it would have been interesting.
January 28, 200817 yr Author He'd really have liked that. He has a lot of respect for George. I like his music but, I'm not sure about the man. Then again, I don't like people cheating on their partners anyway.
February 3, 200817 yr It's great that Natasha's Canadian mini-series based on Henry IV, Would Be Kings was also shown at last. She made it ages ago. I hope Eli Stone will be a success for her. I wonder when the film with Hugh Jackman and Ewan McGregor will come out. I think the title's been changed from the Tourist to The List. It's great that Natasha and Darius are both involved in projects that excite them but it looks like they will have to be apart for much of this year.
February 3, 200817 yr Author I wonder when she's filming in the UK? If that's in the next 9 months, that may help them.
February 4, 200817 yr didnt darius mention about her being in London and how that would fit in with his plans..when we thought he meant recording in London? Edited February 4, 200817 yr by prettyinpink
February 4, 200817 yr Author He knew nothing about auditioning for 'Gone With The Wind' then and it was about him recording. This is even better - as long as he records as well.
February 4, 200817 yr At the moment Darius seems determined to press forward with it but he's only got 24 hours a day and he has to be on top form every single night. He's off on Sundays.
February 6, 200817 yr Well if he doesn't, he'll get carted off to secure hospital like Britney - so yes, we have to let him have some time off.
February 7, 200817 yr Author Ok then. We'll allow him to sleep. I think Brittney's problems are much greater than just no having time to sleep. You feel like looking after her.
February 7, 200817 yr According to today's news, she's out of hospital. Normally I'd say she should go home and be with her family for a while, but in her case, I'm not sure that would be ideal either. Surely she's got one good friend. What on earth is her management doing for her?
February 7, 200817 yr Author I think that's why she bothers me so much. If anything happened to our kids, they would always know that we were there and put their interest first. You just feel she has no one waiting to wrap their arms around he r and just love her and try and make it not so bad even if they can't manage better.
