Posted January 27, 200817 yr THE RIHANNA BAG From an “Umbrella” to a handbag: Rihanna has teamed up with Marc Jacobs as the inspiration behind his latest new pair of purses. The two models are available as a part of Jacobs’ spring line. http://chronicmagazine.com/uploaded_images/1201186550_rihannabagsized.jpg Despite its seemingly neutral color, the effect of the silver finish over clay suede is beautiful up close. The Marc Jacobs Rihanna bag is designed with a spacious interior (15.5″x 11.5″x 7.75″), a large easy-access twist-lock closure front flap pocket featuring aged silver metal hardware, rolled leather half circle double handles and an extra 17″ drop detachable thin chain link shoulder strap. The half-circle handles and sturdy turnlock closure are done in pewter, which is not very Jacobs-esque. In fact, it doesn’t share any similar characteristic features that can be found when compared to one of its close relative lines - such as the signature chunky chain straps, quilted detailing, the iconic push-lock closure, etc. Nope, this bag is on its own. Perhaps MJ should use it more often - it lends the bag such a sturdy, smart and pulled together look. The Rihanna bag is dressed in a crackled metallic silver leather that fades into sumptuous putty colored suede ($2,075) and a mildly distressed metallic leather version with textural grain ($1,650).
