Posted January 28, 200817 yr Pete Doherty solo gig cancelled Source | NME.COM Pete Doherty’s previously-mooted gig at the Reading Fez venue on Wednesday (January 30) has been cancelled witin a matter of hours of it being announced. The venue had previously said that Doherty would play a solo show as the last gig in the venue before it was closed for refurbishment. Organisers have now declared that “due to factors out of our control, we unfortunately have had to cancel this event. We apologise for any inconvenience”. Babyshambles are currently on tour in Germany.

January 30, 200817 yr AN intimate solo gig by Pete Doherty that was advertised as the closing party for Reading’s Fez Club has had to withdraw tickets after failing to confirm the event. The closing party was scheduled for tonight but the club has had to refund tickets and cancel the gig as the frontman of the Babyshambles was never actually confirmed. Paul Beynon, a spokesman for Eclectic Bars, which operates the venue, said: “It was something we looked at as an option but the gig was never actually confirmed. “The Reading Fez is closing for a massive refurbishment so it was always going to be difficult to arrange it, but unfortunately a promoter rather naughtily put the tickets on sale and we have now had to stop the sales as it will not be taking place.” A spokeswoman for EMI, Babyshambles’ record label, confirmed the gig had never been confirmed by the artist. Building work on the Gun Street venue, to be renamed Sakura, is due to start soon. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I guess that explains it then. :P Anyway they're touring Europe atm and I don't think they're in UK right now... can't see them flying in for one gig so it makes sense now.
