Posted January 30, 200817 yr Is getting a remake  but it will focus on Freddie's background I wish they leave it alone, the original is a classic.
January 30, 200817 yr PLEASE tell me you are joking?! this is my favourite horror movie ever. it's a classic. if they wanted to focus on his background (i feel they did that with part 6), why not just make a prequel instead of remaking the first one? and i think heather langenkamp played Nancy Thompson extremley well, so the actress playing her has a lot to live up to for me. ugh @ all these f*cking unnecessary remakes of films.
January 30, 200817 yr :( I love the original Although I like the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, so maybe this will be ok
January 30, 200817 yr Boooooooooooooooo. NO one who remakes this film will be a patch on Wes Craven. This is bollocks. :arrr:
January 30, 200817 yr :( I love the original Although I like the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, so maybe this will be ok I agree, that was actually a pretty decent remake. Most of the other recent remakes (Halloween, Amytiville Horror, The Fog etc) have been awful :(
January 31, 200817 yr I'm not sure what to think about this, I love Nightmare On Elm Street, but sometimes remakes can ruin a film. But saying that there are a few remakes that I perfer to the originals
January 31, 200817 yr About 97% of remakes are AWFUL! As already said about the TCM I thought the remake was okay but that was it, they just tried to bloody it up. I can't really see the remake to this being any good TBH, I thought the original was great so I can't see what they could possibly do to it than just set it more in a modern way.
January 31, 200817 yr I'm aghast that there's comments on here supporting the Godawful and utterly pointless dumbed-down remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre - it was the worst remake of a movie in movie history! Jesus.... As for this remake? No... no need to remake it - pointless and proof that Hollywood seem totally without any new movie ideas.
January 31, 200817 yr Is this actually going to be a remake? I thought it's going to be another sequel because I thought the actor who plays Freddie will be in it. But how can they follow on from Wes Craven's New Nightmare????

But how can they follow on from Wes Craven's New Nightmare???? They did 'Freddy VS Jason' after that in 2003, remember? I loved the whole idea of 'New Nightmare' too. I hope Robert Englund is in it. I can't imagine anyone else playing Freddy. And there were rumours of a prequel, but it turns out they'll just be remaking it but delving into Freddy's background more (which, again, I feel that was the whole point of part 6).

Yeah, from about Movie 3/4+ they talk about Freddy's mother, him born as a child, him growing up, etc. If anything, they havn't focused on him killing kids and the night he died (unless you can the opening of Freddy vs. Jason, which I loved btw)
January 31, 200817 yr Apparently actor Robert Englund won't have any part in it! How can they make another film without him!!!
January 31, 200817 yr Apparently actor Robert Englund won't have any part in it! How can they make another film without him!!! They can't. :( Therefore, it's going to be shit.
January 31, 200817 yr They cant do nightmare on elm street without Robert Englund! You know what I think they should do, re-release films into the cinemas. I know a lot of people will probably have the DVD's, but there is nothing like watching a film on a massive screen in cinema's is there? (Unless there are a bunch of chavs behind you kicking your chair <_< ) Also wanted to point out that I've had several dreams with Freddie in them, bit scary   Edited January 31, 200817 yr by pink_princess01
February 6, 200817 yr Well, it is now just a rumour. Michael Bay et al are appearantly thinking about it but I think they will wait until they see how their remake of Friday The 13th will do at the box office (appearantly they will start shooting that later this Spring so it should be out early next year...I bet it will open on Friday the 13 if there are any near when they finish it). I really don't mind the remakes, some have been good, some have been terrible but that's how it is with all films. You gotta suffer some to see the good ones. And about Robert Englund not being involved with this...it is 100% speculation. Since they are only thinking about rebooting ANOES no-one has been attached to the film yet. I am actually a huge Elm Street fan, I even own the collector's box that includes the first seven films. My favourites are 4th, 1st, and 3rd installments, all three being excellent IMO. I don't think 2nd is as bad as people think and 5th is bearable (thou that is a close call). New Nightmare was at least quite unique but TBH I found it quite boring also and Freddy's Dead (6th) is just absolutely terrible.
February 6, 200817 yr my favourites are first, third and 'new nightmare'. i really despise how they turned freddy into some big joke. i much prefer him when he's more darker & evil. part six was terrible, part four is okay, and parts two and five are kinda boring. i think this remake is really insulting to the franchise and to its fans and shows just how desperate & unoriginal hollywood really is. it's bad enough that they'll be doing this in the first place, but to do it without Robert Englund on board would be stupid ... imo, of course.
February 6, 200817 yr The original was filmed in a neighborhood right next to me when I lived in Atlanta! :o

The words "Michael Bay" associated to any film project usually means a skanky, floating turd as well as sending shivers down the spine (and not in a good way) of every genuine film fan out there... This was the man who utterly ruined "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and "Amityville Horror"... This guy's "contribution" to the Horror genre has been to basically dumb it down and turn classic horror films into complete jokes... So far, he is in the process of producing three horror remakes ("Friday the 13th", "The Birds" and this alledged remake of "..Elm St"), plus all the other remakes he's been involved with... THERE ISN'T A SINGLE, ORIGINAL HORROR PROJECT THIS WORTHLESS FUKKIN' HACK HAS GOING!!!!!! He takes classic old films and utterly pishes on them, GAWD, I really wish it was Michael Bay and NOT Heath Ledger who took that overdose... -_- So far there's been only TWO horror remakes that were worth a damn - Rob Zombie's "Halloween" (more for the first half than the second though, it has to be said..) and Alexandre Aja's "The Hills Have Eyes"...
