Elvis is everywhere in the American election campaign

Nothing about Mitt Romney brings to mind the hip-swiveling Elvis Presley, but at campaign events along Florida's Gulf Coast this week, the booming thump of Elvis' "A Little Less Conversation" was the musical intro for the crisply pressed and somewhat stiff Romney, now the self-styled Republican presidential candidate of a little more action. "All this aggravation ain't satisfactioning me," as the Elvis song goes. "A little more bite and a little less bark, A little less fight and a little more spark."

"America is strong, but Washington is broke," Romney said in a speech in Boca Raton. "This is a time for action and for overcoming the fact that Washington has fundamentally become broken. We simply cannot go on as a nation kicking the ball down the field. It’s time for A Little Less Conversation."

But he’s not the only one to rely on Elvis. Earlier on, Mike Huckabee played bass for much of the morning with his rock-and-roll band “Capitol Offense,” taking the stage at one point with an Elvis impersonator and sang Johnny B. Goode. And last week, Hillary Clinton wore an Elvis Presley purse, when visiting the Peabody Hotel.

It reminds us of the import CD and DVD “Running of President” (Charlotte, N. C., March 20, 1976) where Elvis all of a sudden said: “Ladies and gentlemen, I’d like to announce that I’m running for President”… If only… :yahoo:

Script about Bill, Monika and Elvis circulates in Hollywood

While Oliver Stone is working on the movie 'Bush', a script about the previous USA president Clinton circulates in Hollywood. The movie will go mainly about the affaire Lewinsky. Writer Daniel Vovak wants the movie to be a comedy/drama and is planning to use only Elvis songs for the soundtrack.

Clinton’s code name for the secret service was 'Elvis' and it's well known that he is a huge Elvis fan. According to Vovak, he has Japanese representation because of the complexity of Elvis music ownership and their overlapping business interests with Elvis Presley Enterprises.

Black Elvis" serenades Hillary Clinton

Remember when the Clintons lived in the south where a lot of the Democrat voters are black? Hillary went back there this week to touch base with the folks and got a big nod from the King himself — Elvis! Or, to be more accurate, "Belvis," the black Elvis. Clinton was making nice with some people at a Little Rock diner when she was accosted by Dwayne Turner, aka Belvis, who serenaded her with the opening bars of "Blue Suede Shoes," much to the ex-First Lady of Arkansas’ delight. Belvis, who was a child during the Clinton governorship, explained why he’s got ’90s throwback fever:

I said, ‘how come the white kids get bused in my community, but we got to walk to go to school?’ And [bill] said ‘Really?’ . . Three weeks later we had buses.

Oh, Bill! If only you’d been able to provide transportation for every future flamboyant local character back in the ’80s, your wife would have been president years ago.

Looks like the US politicians are still at it, using Elvis music

Hillary Clinton resorts to Elvis to aid ailing campaign: Hillary Clinton’s campaign message at this morning's rally here could be summed up with the lyrics of the song that opened her event: Elvis Presley's “A Little Less Conversation."

"A little less conversation, a little more action please / All this aggravation ain't satisfactioning me / A little more bite and a little less bark," sang Elvis in his classic ditty, although he was singing about his love life and not about the Democratic primary. Regardless, it was a clever twist by the Clinton campaign to use it as she walked on stage to a cheering crowd in the Westerville North High School gymnasium.

Well he sounded more like Elvis than the female one, but she looks more like Elvis, so I guess it's swings and roundabouts

Bush Flatters Sarkozy As French Elvis

It's "Love me tender" between the United States and France after President George W. Bush compared French President Nicolas Sarkozy with rock'n'roll singer Elvis Presley. Bush told NATO leaders at a Bucharest summit on Thursday that when Sarkozy visited the United States recently, he was seen as "the latest incarnation of Elvis". Such an example of "Burning love" marks a sea change from the "Suspicious minds" that clouded Franco-American relations under Sarkozy's predecessor, Jacques Chirac, who often seemed to see Washington as "The devil in disguise".

Bush has made clear the diminutive French leader, who recently married another singer, Carla Bruni, is now his "Good luck charm" and "My little friend". Sarkozy has shown he is "All shook up" by heaping praise on Bush as the first U.S. leader to understand the need for a strong European defense.
