50 Years ago today, ‘King Creole’ premiered in cinemas all over America. Almost four months after Elvis was inducted in the army, fans had the chance to enjoy what can be called Elvis his best movie. To remember this special 'celebration', we added a picture special with lots of unseen photos from that movie in the Members Area on this site.

Backstage photo from july 1st 1956, the day Elvis was at the NBC Studios for the ‘The Steve Allen Show.’ It’s the night with the famous ‘Hound Dog’ scene Elvis hated so much. (When he had to sing his song to a basset.) The man with Elvis on the picture is Lyle Russel Cedric ‘Skitch’ Henderson, he worked for NBC from 1951 till 1966. He was born in 1918, famous as a pianist, concutor and composer. Henderson served as the original bandleader for ‘The Tonight Show’ with founding host Steve Allen. His nickname ‘Skitch’ reportedly derived from his ability to quickly "re-sketch" a song in a different key. He died on November 1st 2005.

In between the rare and unseen pictures of our Summer Special, we just got in this beauty. We have no idea about the occasion for this picture, all we know is that it looks like a 1973 shot, clearly taken backstage, with Elvis wearing the Today Suit and the Tulip Belt. If you know more about the picture - when, where and why - please let us know..!

Here's a unique picture from 1969: Elvis together with the Canadian singer Johnny Farago. Farago was born in Quebéc, Canada on June 15th 1944, his real name was Jean-Yves Béland.

He took part in singing contests in the early sixties, sometimes as an Elvis impersonator. With the group ‘Les Mercédes’ he released two singles. In 1967 he went solo and in 1968 the album ‘Johnny Chante Elvis’ is released, with French versions of Elvis songs. Johnny Farago died on July 29th 1997.

What a beauty this is: this is E-L-V-I-S all the way. Note that Elvis wears the so-called 'Aloha suit', but the setting isn't Hawaiian at all. In fact, this picture was taken in 1973 in Cincinnati Ohio. The belt you see on this picture, was actually the third (out of 4) made for Elvis. The first Aloha-belt was given to Ed Parker, the second was thrown in the audience, the third is in Graceland (that's the one on this picture) and the 4th was made to match the so-called Embroidered Eagle suit.
