I got the book from the library and Rhett's not the charming rogue played by Clark Gable. he's much more wicked and irreverent. I think Darius will revel in playing the nasty side of him. Billy and Sky were too quickly converted to goody goody.
As you go on, he's also the most knowing and the one you could trust most - and a loyal friend - to those he considered to be friend.
Maybe it's that at the beginning we're seeing Rhett partly through Scarlett's eyes and he's like no-one she's ever met before. A bit like Darius!
He doesn't folow the pack. Even though it turns them against him, he still told them how it was as he could see it. That's a very valuable trait

He definitely doesn't candy coat his sentiments about the folly of the war they're about to welcome with open arms. He tries to make them see how disadvantaged the South is, but they're too puffed up with pride.

Scarlett is about the only woman who swiftly realises he talks a lot of sense, reprobate or not.

More than 5 minutes, I think.

Why does the cast list have Mrs Meade but not Dr Meade? Am I misreading it?

Edited by Baytree

Mrs Meade is one of the central Atlanta women. Maybe they are making more of the social interchange than they are the war.
I notice in the video where Margaret martin is talking shr says this is my first PLAY not MUSICAL , just wondering!!! did she write the music.
Just looked t te cast list - is it me but it does seem a large cast list.
I'm sure I counted 28 for Chicago but that might have included the ensemble because they doubled for media, jury etc. I'm not certain how many had speaking roles.
