Well done Darius

I 'spoke' to some of you over on the backup site yesterday but want to add my best wishes. It's a bit of a coup and a great opportunity for him. He may hit Broadway yet :D

Sorry, I should have said thanks for coming on and your comments. I was just so happy about how things were going. It doesn't take much to righten my day and this was all great.

I'm not sure if it is posted here and I have missed it, but there was an article in the Daily Mail too yesterday HERE

I think it is great news for Darius. Although I haven't seen him in any theatre production, he sure does have the looks to be Rhett.

Good luck to him.

Great news for you fans too.

Thanks, dindy. I know we have that one somewhere - but I'd rather have it twice than risk not having it at all. Weeeeeeeee.

I think I may be buying a few mags next week. See, BT. Even being offline means he can sneak one in.
Good luck to Darius! It must have been gruelling to have auditions for three months! I cannot imagine how stressful that would have been.

I bet he's over the moon to have won the part. What a buzz that must have been. Natasha's latest project started on abc tv and he gets confirmation that he has the part. It must have been a brilliant time for them both.

Pittsburgh has the latest press release. Darius is certainly known in the US now. This is brilliant. I must really stop saying that.

I think everyone will excuse your exuberance Megham. You've waited a long time to be able to get so excited

I'm so pleased for Darius and for all his fans too.

Maybe there's something in astrology. They're both Leos and coincidentally Natasha was riding high with Commander In Chief when Darius first got Billy Flynn.

Yes I did have to pinch myself when I read that he'd got the role.

I know I've speculated about the roles he could play, including Rhett, a lot here on BJ but the latter was a role for him in the future, I thought. I was shocked, but in a truly delighted way only.

I'd start a count down but that really would be very sad. My father-in-law doesn't know why I keep disappearing to go on the pc.
Oops. I couldn't see my post and thought it hadn't gone on. It will be a whole new experience for Darius and hopefully so much fun although hard work for him to be there from the beginning and see how a musical comes together with a completely new cast.

I'm glad he hasn't gone the easy route - 'Guys and Dolls' looked more challenging than 'Chicago'.. This looks like one of his biggest challenges. It should suit him down to the ground.

Darius has never taken the easiest or most lucrative route and when he's been knocked down, he's always got up and set himself harder goals. I've always admired him for that.

Isn't it amazing that Trevor Nunn was able to keep the auditions for Rhett a complete secret until he wanted to announce it? Usually the theatre sites are buzzing with inside information, but not this time.

I think that they just weren't even looking towards Darius - most on those sites have never seen him perform.

Thank goodness the Guys and Dolls tour took a break and Darius didn't commit himself to do Sky again or he would have missed out on this fantastic opportunity.

BTW I didn't realise Rhett is supposed to be 45 at the end of the book.

I wonder when/ if there will be any snippets from rehearsals. I'm wondering what the songs will be like. I hope they're not too depressing.

found this snippet.

Paice was part of workshop productions of the new musical during her previous year in London.

"Instead of trying to re-create the film, it will be done like 'Nicholas Nickleby,' with the characters narrating much of the story quickly," Paice said. Nunn co-directed that acclaimed production on Broadway in 1981.

By narrating does that mean not much singing. I know im thick.
There will be the normal amount of singing but the plot and development will be told to make a smooth transition through the story. It's quicker and easier to follow that way.

On Torontobroadwayworld the story is illustrated by the Live Twice cover pic and the first comment is that he's far too young to play Rhett - he looks about 18

Darius? He's always looked older than his years to me.

I don't think he's ever looked 18 to me, always older.

That album cover photo isn't the best one to pick.....
