the bit in the film made me cry, when Rhett locks himself in the room with Bonny's dead body and refuses to let her be buried, because she was so scared of the dark - I found that so moving - is that line in the show? .

It is but I don't know if it's the same as the film as I still haven't seen that.

I cant recall now, if Melly comes out of his room and tells Mammy that she has got him to agree to the burial and she says that he cant put her in the dark on her own..

It's Mammy who says that. It's when she's begging Mellie to help because Rhett's lost his mind, is refusing to bury Bonnie because she's afraid of the dark, and has threatened to kill Scarlett if she tries to take Bonnie for the funeral next day.

Mellie stays with Bonnie and rhett promises to sleep if she does. I bet that'd be hard to do though.

Don't you think it would have been better if the GWTW site would have had some of the songs. Surely they have access to the same TCM videos which are on the Telegraph site. I think Darius is wonderful in Alone.

I always prefer to go to something I have heard isnt that good in review - to find it better,

it would be awful to go to one that was raved about but was rubbish! - that has never happened where Darius is concerned thank godness

 

 

The first part of the second half is a bit slower - but it gains speed as soon as Darius comes on. He adds the zest to it. He really does have stage presence. Edward is great - i end up really disliking his character.

I just hope the critics' frosty reception doesn't put the cast recording at risk.

I thought Ashely was such a drip in the book and film, the look on Scarletts face in the orchard in the film when he says how he cant cope - she cant beleive he is such a sop, but wont let go the dream of who he is in her fantasy

Edward plays the role brilliantly. I end up feeling disdain for Ashley. Very well done.

At least you can see why Scarlett's head could be turned by Edward's Ashley. I never could imagine Vivien's Scarlett growing up lusting after Leslie Howard's Ashley.

True. If it's an Original London Cast recording, it has to be Darius.

 

It certainly does have to be Darius.

It's not even 3 months since we got the news and this thread was started and I had to pinch myself to believe it. Now it's almost as unbelievable to read review after review praising Darius.

 

It's not a bad fault to be cast in Clark Gable's mould , even if he isn't really.
