I like SEE. They have always been so helpful and go out of their way to get me tickets I like. In this case, front row except when I go with my Mum and then we have the producers seats.

As you know, I never, ever sit front row. I'm happier from about 3 rows back but I don'tlike sitting to the side so I usually have to pay top price anyway.
same here, not keen on front row - I have row f, and hope looking at the plan its an aisle seat, as Hubby has long legs. I have gone through See, paid more not to get a seat right at the sides. Oh well in for a penny...
I'll be interesting to see if Darius will do what Clark Gable didn't, although he worked on it for six months from 1938, - give his Rhett a Southern accent.

yes, f is further fowrard than I thought..although hubby was looking on new london theatre site and telling me there wasnt the number I had got! different plan was there!! I was worried for a while

I wonder what Darius' accent will be like..did he use the same one when Sky as he did when Billy..that sounded good to me, although I suppose not really southern..thinking of Patrick swayzes lovely drawl in Norht and South al those years back..

Darius sounded different as Sky than he did as Billy. We'll just have to wait and see.

PIP, the set is so big, they had to remove the first 4 rows to fit it in. E is now front row.

Thank you. That's nice for Now.

I think Darius has probably had parts of the script to read/perform during the auditions. I'll bet he's got it all now. Natasha must come in handy when he's trying to learn his scenes.

The more background I read about Trevor Nunn, the more amazed I am that he chose Darius. He seems to prefer to surround himself with people he's worked with before.

ah..but had he worked with this Margaret woman, hubby googled her last night..and is now wondering if it will be OK..LOL

as I said, well there is time for some song alterations, after all Darius would lobve to get involved in writing songs for a musical surely..

as for 2nd row.I didnt realsie that at all, not until looking at the seating charts, last night hubby was telling me I had bought a ticket that didnt exist!!! now its 2nd row!!

I do hope the show sells OK, although I thought the same about Chicago..and the theatre was packed when we got there

Lovely seeing that Now mag bit, thanks meg

Trevor had read the scriptm heard the music and has spent at least two years in preparation - Darius is the last peice in the jugsaw. If t were not great, Trevor would have pulled out, the backers wouldn't be putting their money into it and Darius wouldn't be interested, neither would all the other people who wanted to be Rhett.

I really wouldn't worry, pip. There's no guarentee that I'll like it, as 'Gone With The Wind' isn't my type of thing but, the show will be brilliant.

One of the American producers' sites actually says that his company's aim is to produce works they can roll out globally and there's a good list of names of shows we'd all recognise. I'm paraphrasing that but these again are people of great experience in what they do. They wouldn't put their names to it without knowing the ins and outs of what they were letting themselves in for.

The latest rubbish allegation from the would be know all insiders is that so few people wanted to be Rhett, Sir Trevor Nunn was very limited. They base this one on the fact Michael French(ex-Eastenders and Billy Flynn) was considered.

I should think they considered all applicants in at least one casting!

Who are they kidding? The chance to be the first Rhett Butler in a brand new musical? Rhett Butler! It's a dream role, a once in a life time opportunity. What young(ish) actors wouldn't jump at it?

Another stupid argument is they're cutting salary costs and making do with cheap reality cast instead of paying for people like Michael Ball or John Barrowman.

Why is it always those two? You'd think there were no other good leading men in the West End.

Michael Ball is in Hairspray and he's a bit too cuddly to be Rhett imo. John Barrowman is doing a concert tour and after all his camp prancing around on any and every TV appearance, he's more suited to the foppish, spineless Ashley than Rhett.

We're supposed to believe the best people are attracted to the creative team and presumably they don't come cheap, but at the point of delivery to the public - on the stage, the accountants demand mediocrity and expect to turn a profit.

Anyone believe that not many wanted the role of Rhett Butler? I'm good at suspending belief - but not that good. The most sought after role of the decade. If it hadn't been, it may not have taken 3months to reach a decision.

It was interesting to listen to the interview with Michael Ball on that site. He said he lined up with everyone else for auditions for Hairspray and did some readings and sang a song and that he was really nervous.

Can you imagine the stress it must have been for Darius to constantly prepare and try to be the one person who'd make the best impression every time for 3 months.

Now we know a bit more about what he was actually doing in LA and NY it helps to explain why he always looked tired in pictures. He probably was pretty exhausted.

Thats what I told them!!!

Maybe they're still recovering from the shock.

We'd been considering the possibility for some time, although we didn't know Darius had actually auditioned.

Chit chat - Colourblind casting

Published Tuesday 5 February 2008 at 12:15 by Tabard

Meanwhile, there has been one other question on people’s lips since the end of last week. Darius Danesh as Rhett Butler?

Yes, the man most famous for his rendition of Hit Me Baby One More Time (oh, how he must long to forget that), is to take to the West End stage in Trevor Nunn’s new musical version of Gone With the Wind.

It’s a strange choice and one is tempted to think that it has to be based solely on Danesh’s performance in the auditions. After all, he has little public profile in the wider world now - it’s been rather a long time since his hit single Colourblind - so can’t really be deemed a box office draw in himself.

Or maybe it’s just a (Gone With the) Wind up.

research- that seems to be a rather redundant word in journalism these days, truth, there's another.

I can think of a few more choice ones, but will refrain!

I imagine the important people would get to see D's CV and know a bit more than these monkeys.
