Posted February 3, 200817 yr Why are so many people always so hostile to Darius, even when it's obvious he's achieved something creditable on merit, like being chosen as Rhett Butler? It's all kicking off again. Is it still the fall out from Popstars? Is it because he came from reality TV? Are some people determined to see him fail, so they can say "I told you so"? Is it because he is seen as a 'name' and not a trained West End performer? I just don't get it. Anyone else who'd achieved what he has, would get some credit.
February 3, 200817 yr its beyond me, although I think those who make the most noise are idiots as a rule, the saying empty vessels make the most noise . I was watching the happy hour show when Adrian whatshisname was saying he and a lot of presenters got sent used tiolet paper through the post..so I like to think you can ignore the bullies and carry on regardless, if Darius was as untalented and unpopluar as the ones shouting about it say, then he wouldnt have had his record success, pass the theatre auditions, he wouldnt have extended performances, and been invited back..and then gone on to get other roles. I beleive it happens to a lot of people, the only problem is when the powers that be are blinkered by what the empty brained bigmouths shout, It infuriates me how Darius has to work so hard to show his talent, yet is undermined, while others who are a waste of oxygen as hailed as heros. All I can say is he IS doing well, without support and against manys hopes! just imagine if he had had support, the inage kudos and the hype others get and not this prejudiced animosity, he would be a big star I am sure. Some how it makes any success even more gratifying knowing he has to do it for himself.
February 3, 200817 yr The North American ones are not negative. Los of people can't get over what he did as a 19 yr old - stupid bigoted people. Lots of people who have never met him, or heard him just singing, hate him and have never given him a chance. I'm not going to let them spoil the incredible pleasure I'm getting from knowing someone as experienced as Trevor Nunn find him to be the best in stiff competitio, without bias. Darius IS excellent. His stage presence is incredible. This is absolutely brilliant.
February 3, 200817 yr exactly, who do you beleive, trevor Nunn who has carried out the most vigerous auditions he ever has, or some bored forum users or journos who havent done one jot of research in their life. I know which I prefer if it was a choioce of having him being accepted by Nunn or the Sun!!
February 3, 200817 yr I personally think it is jealousy on the part of a lot. of people who support other artistes and at the time of popstars etc that was bandied about and has stuck. it is obvious from comments on other sites that most of them havent seen D on stage but for instance if you look into WOS a number are from people who support other artistes as happened during the reviews of chicago. This is very obvious on DS at the moment with the X factor and on WOS with phantom of manhatten. What does get up my nose is the tabloids. who were only too pleased to be on Ds back yet cant give him credit where its due. They have given enough for Duncan James . The sun always support SC artistes, it is noticeable yet barely a mention for D probably becausehe has success yet the chap who has taken over victorias colum Bizarre is scottish. Just my opinion.
February 3, 200817 yr Look at the positive - the negative will just wind you up and there is just too much good to let that happen.
February 3, 200817 yr I ignore/pass over the 'past history' bits now and those who say he has no stage presence must NEVER have just seen him in my opinion. I loved reading the American ones. That Celebritish blog made me grin. I'm all for positive reading....bring it on :D
February 3, 200817 yr No don't, Preson. But try not to let it get you down - there's been more positve than negative and it IS something for us to look forward to.
February 3, 200817 yr Author I better keep quiet in future. No, I agree with a lot that you say. There's also omission. I find it strange that only one Scottish newspaper has even carried the announcement and there isn't one single word in any of the Scottish Sundays. I'm hoping they're keeping their powder dry until he comes back when rehearsals start around the 11th of this month, so that they can do bigger articles and features.
February 3, 200817 yr Back to not keeping quiet, thread WOS. talking about baby hit me etc and love in the room, how long ago was this.?
February 3, 200817 yr When he was 19 and didn't know he was being set up. My heart still goes out to him. He didn't stand a chance. It's only the inate grace that got him through.
February 4, 200817 yr I better keep quiet in future. Oh :( I hope it wasn't me that made you say that....I was just saying what I try to do otherwise I'd be shouting and it's just not worth it 'cos I doubt if they will ever change
February 4, 200817 yr When he was 19 and didn't know he was being set up. My heart still goes out to him. He didn't stand a chance. It's only the inate grace that got him through. If you look at that in a different light and not for the audition he was doing ....it was ...blummin' fantastic ....just not right for what he was doing at the time ....certainly showed me what he was made of.
February 4, 200817 yr Author There's never been any doubt the boy could sing and even then you couldn't take your eyes off him when he was way at the back, not involved in what was going on.
February 4, 200817 yr It's this charismatic aura about him. You can't not notice him. I must admit though, it was just one base line that got me hooked. That lad has a beautiful voice - but, you didn't really hear him at his best at all on PI. The kind of person he is, kept me hooked. You just really want someone that nice and that talented, to do well.
February 4, 200817 yr Author That's why this week's news is just so delicious. It great to see his perseverence rewarded so spectacularly and it may be a cliche, but it really couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
