watching the news this morning it seems to me no one is safe from hostility online, they were discussing some blog column in the Telegraph having hundreds of comments posted which were personal and nasty about the writer. the phsyologist explained it was an easy way for people to off load anger, even if they had nothing particularily against the person it was aimed at and it was their own insecurity making them feel powerful by being hostile, poor Bill Turnville said he had been called a lisping moonhead - it seems to me most people in the public eye get abuse - you have to just look past it.

yes, I have read some things about Trevor Nunn which browsing too, I suppose the fact is forums are a small percentage of people making the most noise.

Usually telling the world theey are right and everyone else is wrong. So many people never learn self- control these days.
it is the pack instinct, like mobbing, I am sure people get hysterical and hyped up if they see something happening and cant help but join in...its easier of you are in a big gang..or hidden behind the facless internet, I know I saw a comedian saying that it was so much easier being negative about something than positive, and I agree as everyone seems to be happier to put down than to praise.

I think the blog you are talking about is one being written by a 19 year old who is going on his gap year. He is going to Thailand and India The Guardian is sponsoring him. The big thing is that his father is the Guardian Travel Writer The argument by virtually every commentor is that the whole thing is nepotism. The Guardian is well known for its leftist views, yet by doing this its doing something that the Telegraph would be proud of, yet diametrically opposite in its values. The argument is why not sponsor someone who could not afford to go on a Gap Year, someone headed for Uni to read journalism from a less well off background or someone who is going to do something a little more exotic than India & Thailand which will take him (no doubt) to Goa Beach and the delights of the Bangkok Red Light district. I would like to read about someone who is doing something worthwhile for their Gap Year, maybe at a school in Malawi or in the Townships in South Africa than hearing about the pzzd up antics of an extremely well connected freeloader. Max Gogarty at 19 is possibly squandering the journalistic opportunity of a lifetime. Just think what Fifi (for those who know her) would do with it ...

However, I must agree. Self Control is something that is definitely not on most people's agenda when raising children now. I see it every day in my job on the Streets as a PCSO Last night we took home a 15 year old, out of his face on cider that we managed to catch whilst he was playing chicken in and out of the traffic whilst his mates stood by enjoying the show.

This may sound weird to some but I recall learning the Girl Guide Law at the age of 11. There were 10 laws. One of those is "A Guide is self controlled in all she thinks, says and does" I don't always keep to that but it comes back to me time after time in so many situations.

If they rubbish D they rubbish Trevor quote - I dont think it stopped them with the Woman in white but they will do their best. Anthony Costa (blue) has had a number of concert dates cancelled ue to poor sales. A link to the persian report has been posted you know where with surprise at things in it unknown.

I thought all the 'things' in that article were fairly well known.

His maturity is why he has to leave 'pop' songs behind and make his next album more adult orientated without falling into the MOR trap. Darius never was a teen idol. Sir (Lord, now)Andrew LLoyd Webber knew that straight away.

Some of the LT tracks and B sides show that's the direction he was heading in. It's harder to write songs with depth, especially if you're doing a full time course, nurturing another career on the side and committed to a family life. It's difficult to keep all the plates spinning but somehow he's doing it.

He's determined it will be his album without interference and won't hurry his creative muse.

Well someone has posted that some of the music is still being written during the rehearsel period and the chap who runs the site says that is not unusual so it crossed my mind that D culd be helping!!!!

well it crossed mine, when thinking that the writer was an unknown, I did read tweaks, I would have thought the majority would have been sorted by now, and I dont put much faith in the posts I have read, - but I know Darius is no mean songwriter and lyricist, I am sure he would love to be asked about anything.

They have top music experts who've worked on productions with Trevor Nunn before. I should think Darius will have more than enough to do. He'll have to pull out everything to master the range of emotions and physical states he has to do as Rhett, in a relatively short time.

Right now, I don't think the actors will be concerned at all with the music e.g. Jill Paice is a Bachelor of Music from Baldwin-Wallace College and Darius can read music, so they won't have any difficulty in actually singing the songs.

well surprise surprise the Sun on line have a large picture of steve brookstein together with a write up that he is to appear in the Madness tour, thats more than D got.
i can nly assume its down to what the editors are paid to include, I cannot imagine why anyone would be interested in Steve Brookstien and the madness tour other than for Promo which is paid for surely. I usually console myself with this thought,

I wish Steve well. He's got a good voice and I think he was shafted by Simon Cowell. He's playing the 'ghost' Dad.

The leads are played by young actors.

Has anyone seen Our House. I haven't. I was never into Madness and I've never fancied any of the musicals based on so and so's music.

The only one of those I'm regularly tempted to see, but still haven't, is Mamma Mia.

I may be wrong but to my knowledge the Sun said absolutely zilch about Darius. I'm not a Sun reader though and I don't bother with it online, so maybe I'm being unjust. I do know I bought the Scottish Sun both times he was mentioned in the DRand there was nothing.

Edit:

grr! I couldn't edit because I'd been signed out yet again!

When you search the Sun site for Darius, there's been hardly a mention for years and any that have slipped through are sneering and negative.

You never know, that may improve. Maybe the Sun has a poor opinion of it's readers and think they may like Madness but not the theatre.

Some of the stuff they print I think they definitely tend towards the lowest common denominator.
I know. My father-in-law has this paper and I think it's just the naked girls that appeal to him.

The Scottish Sun is just the same. I cannot understand why Scottish groups and artists get so little mention in a paper, which has the cheek to put Scottish in its title.

They're excluded from the English version because there's a Scottish Sun but they don't get into it either because the Scottish Sun takes its lead rom the English edition. It's a vicious circle. Mad!

And a daft one. I could tolerate the English including Scots and visa versa - but not the exclusion.

The Scots must be one of the most spiritually rebellious nations in the world.

Whenever anyone tries to ignore them or repress them or tell them something can't be done, they just say words beginning with F, go off and discover half the world, found some of the most important banks, invent practical things like the telephone, steam power, pneumatic tyres, radar, chloroform, all sorts - if there's an ancient Scottish "oh yeah, really? I'll show you" gene, Darius Danesh has inherited it.
